Dad's Rules with Kevin Belzer

Kevin Belzerpodcasters.spotify.com
This podcast is based around my rules for being a kickass adult. Over the past 50 years, I have used myself as a guinea pig, of sorts, testing these rules out. We will discuss the ones that worked, and should be carved into stone, as well as the ones I threw to the side. I am all about making us all better humans, even if it is at my own expense. Plan to laugh, cry, and cringe as I go over Dad's Rules, relationships, and interview people, that are truly living a kickass life in every way. So, get off my lawn and live your kickass life!!!

39 - Have You Quit Yet?

With 13 podcast in the can, I decided to go live on Wisdom App and record a fresh episode instead. I know it makes no sense. That is just how my brain works sometimes. Today is a short episode. Just a few things that were on my mind. First, 3 days are down in the new year. Have you quite your goals and dreams for 2023 yet? Seems crazy, but some will look at any setback and be done. Wave the white flag until next year. I am not a fan of new year's resolutions. I believe you should be continually ...

38 - Roller Coaster Vs Ferris Wheel

When you go to an amusement park, the most exciting rides are always the roller coaster. The ups, downs, twist and turns, whether right side up or upside down are exhilarating. In contrast, the Ferris wheel is more of a laid back romantic ride, taken at a leisurely pace up into the sky and back down where you get off and continue your stroll through the park. In the business world, the roller coaster is chaos. It is a living nightmare. One day you are riding the financial highs of your genius an...

37 - When Life Gets Busy, When is "Busy" Time?

Today, Melissa Belzer is back to talk about S-E-X!!! So, we are finally taking a card from the intimacy deck and talking about sex. The question is, What are some ways we can make sure our sex life and intimacy stays in tact when life gets busy? Lots of relationships faulter because people get busy with life and forget that they still need to keep busy in the bedroom. To get the show back to lighter moments, we also talk about our favorite colors. This is a lot tougher than it seems for one of u...

36 - When or Where is Lack of Patience a Problem For Us?

Today, we have Melissa Belzer on again. In this episode, we go over a question in the Relationship deck. When or where is lack of patience a problem for us? These decks are pretty interesting because they make you have conversations that you have either been avoiding or just hadn't been able to put into words without the prompting of the question. Also, we go off on a tangent about how gross smoking is so this episode isn't all serious business. I hope you enjoy these episodes. Like I have said ...

35 - Prologue to Get Off My Lawn

Coming in 2023 will be the 2nd book in the Dad's Rules series! I did a reading of it on Wisdom and decided to share the prologue with you all. No corrections. No edits. That is kind of how it goes down on Wisdom where everything is live! However, I think you will enjoy it. The follow up has been a long time coming and we are down to a few things that still need completed before the release. That said, I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I hope you enjoy this Saturday episode. If you li...

34 - What Are You Struggling With?

Today, we go offsite to Menace Underground. If that wasn't enough excitement, we also brought in a special guest star to join in. Melissa Belzer, my real and not made up wife, joins me after 33 solo episodes. On this episode, we pull a random card from a conversation starter deck and discuss the topic. No prep. No plan. This is either going to be brilliant or a train wreck of an idea. You decide! Also, we spend a few minutes talking about music. What was your favorite song growing up and what is...

33 - Bonus Content Episode - Perception Is Your Reality

Okay, we are going to try something new. I had additional thoughts about episode 31 after I spoke at a Real Estate Conference. So, I decided to whip out the cell phone and deliver some additional information on my Wisdom channel. After I sent it out, I got to thinking that this would make for some good additional content for all of you. Let me know your thoughts! Hope you like these. I am thinking of adding these in every now and then. If you like the show, let me know by liking, sharing, leavin...

32 - Time To Get To Work

This episode will cover 3 takeaways from Dominate Your Real Estate Career Conference that I was blessed to attend and speak at. It is a video that I was sending out to agents, but felt the value applied to anyone in sales. You're going to have to work. Money isn't going to necessarily come as easily. You may actually be required to go on a few more appointments. You need to be consistent in your system. What do I mean? You need to be presenting your client's a proposal in a professional way that...

31 - Perception Is Your Reality

We are at an episode a day for the longest months of the year! On this episode, we discuss perception. Whatever you believe about anything is a truth. It's your truth. It may not be the truth, but it is definitely a truth. Once you have new information, then we can see if you were right or completely off base. What I have noticed for myself in the real estate world is that I could look at things from a negative, everything is bad, no one is buying, homes aren't selling scenario. Or, I could inst...

29 - Challenges, Excuses and Solutions

Day after the election. If you are hearing this, neither party blew up America. Half of you are pissed off. Heck, maybe all of you are, right? So, in this episode, I decided to dive into the challenging times we are in. We talk about the elections, economy, gas prices, inflation, possibility of war, the housing market, rates and rents. Guess what? All of that is macro and will only effect you as much as you let it. Are you using these issues as excuses for why you can't possibly succeed? Are the...

27 - MenaceCon Recap Part IX

The final episode in the MenaceCon Recap! In hindsight, I am very glad that I broke this down. It would have been over 3 hours for one episode if I hadn't. In this episode, we cover 4 speakers. Tim Herriage is Executive Director of RCN Capital, $1 billion + of real estate transactions and has bought or sold 1300+ houses. Tim spent time talking about connections, knowing the right people to make a lot of money. Business is all about connections. You may go fast on your own, but you won't go far w...

26 - MenaceCon Recap Part VIII

We are down to the last few recap episodes. On this episode, we have two powerhouse speakers that I recap, Luke Vennard and Terrence Burner. Luke Vennard is a partner at Sterling Group United, a 9 figure entrepreneur and financial expert. He asked some powerful questions. What is my potential? Who am I inside? Do you have the fight in you? What kind of person am I? What drives me? What motivates me? Although we can only go so deep on each of these, take note of them and ask yourself how you woul...

25 - MenaceCon Recap Part VII

Part VII of MenaceCon Recap series. I hope you are getting as much out of this as I am reliving one of the best conferences I have ever attended. In Part VII, we have 3 speakers to recap. 1st, Curtis Ray, founder of MPI Unlimited, 1.5 million + social media followers and brand worth $10s of millions. Although we stay out of the deep talk of money that he is known for, we do scrape the surface of what he exposes in how we are told to see money and the reality of whether that thought will truly ma...

We continue our coverage of MenaceCon with Part VI. One speaker only but he deserved all of our time. Jason Von Payne is the co-founder of Menace, Founder of State 48 Roofing and an 8 figure entrepreneur. Jason spent his talk on attention. As the markets all shift, it will become apparent that many fields are saturated. In order to stand out, to stand above the competition, it will become more critical than ever to find a way for businesses, entrepreneurs and small business to get attention. Onc...

We continue my recap of MenaceCon 2022. So many speakers and so much quality content to go over. Rather than try and rush through the speakers and what I took out of their talks, I have decided to break it down to 1-3 speakers per episode. By doing this, I can spend more time deep diving into the takeaways and, hopefully, deliver more value to you, my fellow Kickass Adults. Today's Episode will cover Jon Storey. We continue our run through the speakers at MenaceCon 2022. This will be Part IV. Today, we break down some key takeaways that I got from Nicole Markson. She is a Billboard charting artist, breast cancer survivor and the founder of Live Your Dream. Her story of overcoming obstacles created by the experts in the music world and in life was moving to all of those in attendance. As usual with this series, I will go deep into my feelings on what she said and the impact it has had on me. I hope you a...

21 - MenaceCon Recap Part III

We continue our march through MenaceCon and it's star filled speakers. Rather than make this a race and try to wrap this all up in an episode or two, I chose to do a deep dive on all the speakers. By taking our time, I felt I could better elaborate on what I got out of their speeches. I took 16 total pages of notes so this will take quite a few episodes to cover. Since it is my show, I talked to myself and found out that I was okay with this approach. Today, we cover two speakers, Jordan Adler a...

We are continuing my recap of thoughts and insights into MenaceCon 2022. Today's episode will cover Gary Brecka, co-founder of 10x Health Systems and Bio Hacker. Absolutely fascinating man and story. Big takeaway for me was that we sure do put a lot of garbage into our systems. Next, Tommy Mello was up. He is the founder of A1 Garage Doors. Hey! I use their services! Challenges are great. Well, they are if you create them and follow through. We will discuss my current one and how you can join in one too. Also, we will talk about how I get attention in business. What are you doing to get attention for what is important for you and your business? Lastly, we should always be learning. Sometimes, we need reminders that help get us back on track. 17 - Beliefs Part III

We wrap up a 3 episode arc on beliefs by focusing on three recent Supreme Court cases. This week, we look at the recent ruling concerning a teacher who was praying on school grounds. No matter your beliefs, we need to be asking ourselves if we are hearing each other. We may not change minds. In fact, highly unlikely. However, maybe, just maybe we can find a way to hold a conversation without yelling, calling each other names or throwing things. If you like this episode or not, I need you help. C...

16 - Beliefs Part II

We continue our 3 episode arc about beliefs. This one will cover another ruling by the Supreme Court, abortion. I go over the case, a story that I have never told publicly about why I have my beliefs as well as what this ruling really means. All of this in less than 16 minutes. There are reasons we all have the beliefs we do. Some of them, we will never see eye to eye. But, that doesn't mean we can't have a conversation and state our cases without throwing things or yelling at each other. No one...

15 - Beliefs Part I

I will be covering 3 recent Supreme Court cases. I will be tying in reasons that people develop the beliefs they have. Some will take this as political. Look, I have to use something as an example and these cases fit in perfectly. Besides, the media is the one hyping up what is and isn't political anyway. If we can instead look at these as what they are, issues, and instead have civil conversations about them, wouldn't that be better than a tightly wound society? We may never agree on what I am ...

14 - Don't Be A Jerk

Today, we will go over Rule #1 - Don't Be An Asshole. Seems simple, right? The first thing we owe each other is kindness. Why is this such a challenge for some to figure out? If you want to get the most out of life, this rule is critical. Treat others how you would want to be treated. It is easy to think that assholes win in life. Steve Jobs comes to mind. He had wealth but what else did he have? I call his success an exception. Some would assume it is monumental but at the sacrifice of what? I ...

13 - Challenge Accepted

Today, we are going to discuss the Mendon, Missouri train crash. Now, rather than take the political angle that all the papers, media (social and mainstream) and online sites took, we will look at it from the citizens of Mendon's perspective. They rose to a remarkable level that I believe is possible for all. We will tie this into a rule I am hashing out. Rule #21 - Challenge Accepted. Do you want to be better as a human, a parent, father, mother, son or daughter? Are you willing to lend a hand ...

12 - Unsubscribe Part III

Today, we will wrap up Rule #20 - Unsubscribe. This one was such a big deal to me that I couldn't see glossing over it. We spend so much time being distracted by outside sources. While many may have value, we are only human. We will find a way to abuse them. We quickly recap the previous two part and then dive into the topic at hand. The two main points in this episode are around two questions. What else are you putting into your head? Why should you unsubscribe. If you enjoy this podcast, pleas...

There was so much to go over that we couldn't contain it to one episode. Here is Rule #20 Unsubscribe Part II. In this episode, we will go over Rule 20 - Unsubscribe. This rule will be featured in my upcoming book, Dad's Rules Get Off My Lawn. I had so many pages of notes, I decided to break this up into a few parts. In Part I, we set a foundation by go over social media, blogs and podcasts. Episode 9 is all about goals. However, we start it all off with me being ridiculous and singing a jingle about a chair. So, why goals? Simply put, life can't be achieved at a high level off of resolutions and dreams alone. Without an end goal, through a mapped out plan, you will fail. I will cover the importance of writing out your goals, my opinion on what time frame those should be set out for at the max, and how that time will help make you more capable in achieving them or course correcting ...
