Episode description

What is fear, and why does it seem to be everywhere.
1.       Webster defines fear:  an unpleasant often strong emotion caused by anticipation or awareness of danger: profound reverence and awe especially toward God
2.       What does the bible say about Fear: Fear is a natural and, in its purpose, beneficent feeling, arising in the presence or anticipation of danger, and moving to its avoidance; it is also awakened in the presence of superiors and of striking manifestations of power, etc., taking the form of awe or reverence.
3.       An article in Psychology Today by Theo Tsaousides Ph.D. is a neuropsychologist and the author of the book Brainblocks: Overcoming the Seven Hidden Barriers to Success. Says FEAR can be uncomfortable and crippling, but eliminating it would be like shutting your home alarm system because it makes an irritating noise.
a.       Fear is Healthy: It is a natural chemical or electrical response in your brain to give you a heighten sense of what is going on.
i.      Fear can help you from doing something really stupid : Proverbs 14:27 ESV / The fear of the Lord is a fountain of life, that one may turn away from the snares of death.                  ii.      Fear can inspire you to search deeper into something you don’t understand. Psalm 111: 10: The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom; all those who practice it have a good understanding. His praise endures forever!         iii.      Revelation 1:17 ESV When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying, “Fear not, I am the first and the last,"
b.       Fear comes in many shades: Fear can range from mild to paralyzing:
i.      Mild might be a simple as not wanting to go on a roller coaster, or sticking your hand into a dark hole not knowing what was on the other side.                                                        ii.      Paralyzing to not wanting to get out of bed because you are going to die from the virus. iii.      Psalm 56:3-4 ESV When I am afraid, I put my trust in you. In God, whose word I praise, in God I trust; I shall not be afraid. What can flesh do to me?                                      iv.      1 Peter 5:7 ESV  Casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.
v.      Psalm 27:1 ESV Of David. The Lord is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? The Lord is the stronghold of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?c.       Fear is not automatic: Fear is part instinct, part learned, part survival. i.      Psalm 112:7-8 ESV He is not afraid of bad news; his heart is firm, trusting in the Lord. His heart is steady; he will not be afraid, until he looks in triumph on his adversaries.
