Thought by Thought Healing - podcast cover

Thought by Thought Healing

Thought By Thought Healing is a podcast for those looking to overcome chronic pain & symptoms.

I am Jen Johnson, chronic pain coach, and this show is focused on discussing everything related to curing persistent symptoms with evidence-based techniques. I am a Christian and when I first discovered the mind-body syndrome - also referred to as TMS, neuroplastic pain, & neural circuit pain - I was struck by how the neuroscience of pain and the mind body connection align perfectly with scripture. I recovered from my own story of pain as I understood how our thoughts, beliefs, attitudes & emotions played out in the nervous system in ways I never knew was possible. On this show, I interview experts in the field & discuss the intersection of the gospel & mind-body medicine. I also openly share tools I used in my own healing journey, and still use today with my clients.

My hope is that you, too, will learn how to heal. Reversing chronic pain includes emotional, mental and spiritual healing. It truly changes your life; something you don’t want to miss out on. Thought by thought, you can find freedom. Welcome to the journey.

We talk about what we are preparing for and what tools we are using. Enjoy, and have a Merry Christmas! If you are looking to reverse your chronic pain or symptoms, reach out...

46- doing the work - “the soil of our symptoms”

When I was healing, there was no Christian resources out there, but there were some really powerful tools that helped me understand what the enmeshed emotion was within my pain. “Doing the work” means getting to the subconscious emotion and then renewing your mind. Here is one (of many tools) to help you get there. I have created a prayer meditation for you to listen to the Holy Spirit as He guides you into understanding what is the soil or the root of your pain. I hope you enjoy :) #tms #mindbo...

For chornic pain coaching, go to my website: Thoughtbythoughthealing.com In this episode I ask these questions? What caused your pain? What is the story you believe about the people around you? What about the places you go? As humans, we tell stories. They help us make sense of life. But sometimes we believe a story that is incorrect, this causes problems. 1. It sets our brain into danger mode. 2. It causes us to use the wrong tools for healing. In this video I talk about the Blame Frame, the Tr...

A few notes from this convo: Plan for them: Flare ups can be scary, but if we plan for them, we can prepare our brain's to not freak out. 38 - What is safety and how does it move me out of chronic pain?

In this episode I talked about the buzz word safety. What is it? Especially as a Christian, I think we need to analyze what your brain is wanting in order to feel safe and then using scriptures to dump truth all over that. Let His truth, his goodness, into all the crevices of your fears. Are you willing to take this truth and begin to interrupt the fear cycle. The fear cycle won’t interrupt itself. Once you know what your brain is wanting in order to feel safe, there are others ways you can move...

*See my mantra below. These types of claim help teach the truth to the bodybrain. In this episode I talk about the first step of healing, which is understanding that your brain is in fear that there is something structurally wrong with you,. When you claim the truth that there is nothing wrong with you, the pain reduces because it no longer needs to fear. Side note: The truth ALWAYS sets you free. I also talk about the fact that regardless of Mindbody pain or true structural issues, the way that...

Does it really help? 2. As Christians, can I participate in this? And what concepts beneath it DO matter for reversing chronic symptoms. 24 - showing up differently

Today I answer the commonly asked question, "Do I have to change my life, reduce my stress or make big changes in order to heal"? No. You don't have to get rid of stress in order to heal from chronic pain, you just get to learn how to show up differently. When we show up with confidence, and grounded in who we are deep down inside, then we can rise to the challenge of our lives without all the distress and therefore our bodies and brains have no need to warn us of danger. Instead, our brains can...

In this video I talk about how legalism and fear of sinning can be a big contributing fact to pain. I go through Galatians 3 and how we are not meant to live in legalistic "human effort" but in the Spirit which is free gift. I also describe what a hypervigilant brain is & how it is in a "perceived fear state" that comes to play in our relationship with God, too. I share what I believe to be the 4 main ways the brain can operate in hyper-vigilance including our relationship with God. I spend ...

21 - why breathing meditations help reverse chronic pain - w/ demo

It's true, using the bottom-up approach of breathing activities has an important role in creating change in the brain. As a Christian, originally, I disregarded these activities; not understanding the science and why it is such an important part of healing. In this video I talk about the two areas that belly breathing targets. First, it activates the Vagus nerve which runs down from our brain into our stomach area. It is the 10th cranial nerve and is housed in the parasympathetic nervous system....

25 - Be the leader, not the boss, of your brain

Often times we are operating in a way that submits to the way our brains are wired, which often means we are submitting to the fears of our past. Our brains are wired by the past, but the bible shows us that we get to change the way we think, choose our thoughts and emotions and choose to have a spirit of love, power, and sound mind. This means we don’t have to be victim to how our brains. Our brains become wired to habitually produce pain, to cause a cascade of physical responses and ultimately...

It is good to track the ways we are growing mentally, emotionally and spiritually. This wires growth into our brain instead of pain. check out my website for chronic pain coaching: thoughtbythoughthealing.com
