Dunn Street founder Stephen Donnelly - in conjunction with Australian Labor International - was in the Maldives last week, leading workshops with the Maldives Labour and Social Democratic Party (MLSDP) and took time out to speak with two local party activists organising for change across this island nation.

Stephen spoke with Mauroof Zakir - General Secretary of the Tourism Employees Association of the Maldives (TEAM) about the transition from autocratic rule following constitutional reforms in 2008, the establishment of trade unions and why the need for a Labour Party to enter the political fray at a national and local government level.

In the second half of the episode, Stephen spoke with Nash Waheed who is an organiser for TEAM and on the executive of the Labour Party. She spoke about growing up in the Maldives, the challenges faced by young people and what is at stake for her homeland.
