Episode description

Dunn Street founder and Community Organiser Stephen Donnelly was joined by one of the most experienced journalists in the country - former state political reporter and former deputy director for communications for the Andrews’ Labor government, Brendan Donohoe.

On our annual St Patrick’s Day episode, son of Erin’s Isle, Donohoe brings a unique perspective to the topic of media and politics having worked both in the media for over 30+ years, and in the Premiers Private Office.

As both a print and tv journalist covering the last 11 Victorian state premiers, Brendan talks about the evolution of political media coverage and the stories to go with it. He shares his reflections on the current state of media, expectations from news rooms and how the media grappled with covering issues such as covid and the success of the Andrews government.
