In this episode we speak to Rob Lockwood, Cyber Security Expert, about hacking, cybercrime, cryptocurrency, and everything you need to know to secure your systems. 

We find out the challenges that arise as code and technology continue to grow into more complex networks and ecosystems, as Rob reveals the difficulty in building secure code and technology; secure systems are fruitless if we don’t have strong user protocols and accountability.

Rob discusses the intrusions that make him put his head in his hands. For him, cyber hygiene is built upon the naked foundations - before anything else you "need to do the basics very well and do them consistently”. Mentioning how user awareness training, incident response and multi-factor authentication can combat many common issues like phishing emails and human error, Rob further tells us what companies could and should do to secure their data. “It's about trust. Building trust into all the things that we use”.

Finally, we talk about diversifying the Cyber Security industry and how university is no longer the sole route into the world of infosec, before finishing up with Rob telling us what he wishes he had known at the beginning of his career in cyber security.
