"Ned Hillsdale, private investigator," he grumbled, his voice a low rumble that brooked no argument.
The voice on the other end was gravelly and distorted, the words coming in short, urgent bursts. "Ned, you need to listen to me. There's trouble brewing, and it involves Stacy."
