EPISODE 13 - EXTERNAL Version for Non-Spotify Listeners!

Recently we lost a great musician - Oliver Taylor Hawkins (February 17, 1972 – March 25, 2022) was an American musician, widely known as the drummer for the rock band Foo Fighters, with whom he recorded eight studio albums between 1999 and 2021. Before joining the band in 1997, he was the touring drummer for Sass Jordan and for Alanis Morissette, as well as the drummer in the progressive experimental band Sylvia.

Dave Grohl found a kindred spirit, friend and comrade in Taylor - their mutual admiration for each other was displayed in interviews, on and off stage and in the music.  Dave said in a past interview about his first meeting with Taylor....

"The first time we met, we were at some radio show backstage, and he came up with a beer in his hand. He’s like, ‘Hey, man, what’s up? I’m Taylor, I play with Alanis Morissette. Dude, I love your record, it’s so cool!’ He was such a spaz. I was like, ‘Wow, you’re either my twin or my spirit animal, or my best friend!’ In the first 10 seconds of meeting him. And, of course, I’d seen him play the drums, and I thought he was an amazing drummer.”

This episode of The Add To My Playlist Podcast highlights two songs - a song written by Dave dedicated to Taylor called

Foo Fighters - On The Mend

Foo Fighters ft. Shane Hawkins Perform - My Hero

Thanks Taylor, for the music lives on.
