Western masculinity is in crisis, and the modern Church is part of the problem. Rather than proclaiming ‘muscular Christianity’ the Church has often effeminised men and joined the feminist chorus lambasting manly virtues as “toxic masculinity”.
Why has the Church been so reluctant to call men to “act like men” (1Cor. 16:13)? How do we respond both to the effeminate Christianity which over-emphasises gentle meekness and the non-Christian ‘manosphere’ reactions which glorify strength instead of gentleness?
Why is the stereotypical ‘English gentleman’ a target of attack today? Does he have Christian roots? If so, what are they, and how might they be recovered as a model of godly masculinity today? Join Aaron and Nathan as they share their thoughts on everything from James Bond to Pinocchio to Boniface to Anthony Esolen to Downton Abbey to The Ultimate Warrior! Enjoy…
