Erica Baker, a bright and vivacious third grader, disappeared in February 1999 and had vanished without a trace, leaving her family and the community reeling. The disappearance triggered a community-wide search effort, with hundreds of volunteers scouring the area for any sign of the missing girl. Despite years of investigations and searches, Erica has yet to be found, leaving her family and community searching for answers.

For many years police have had a prime suspect, Christian John Gabriel, in this case. But Gabriel has told several different stories about his involvement in the case. To date, he has only ever been charged and convicted of gross abuse of a corpse and tampering with evidence in Erica's case.
