Can You Come Down From the Mountain?
Spending time in fellowship with Brother Oswald Chambers, My Utmost for His Highest (Utmost.org). This devotional has dramatically changed my life and I want to share it with you each day. This is raw and unedited commentary on each day's devotion.
When we have a "mountain top" experience in our Christian life, it is normal to want to stay there or relive the moment, then spend so much time and effort trying to get "there" again. We are missing the reason why God allows us to experience His closeness in a more intense and personal way from time to time. It is not to consume us with the feeling to want to live in that moment. No, it is to inspire us that He is doing a work in our lives and to give us a goal to aspire to. It is by His inspiration, by His power, for His Glory! We need to make decisions each and every day towards that experience - not to "feel" the experience, but to engage in the transformation. Regardless of how we "feel" we need to make decisions based on the Lord's work in our lives.
