Episode description

Today I was hugely lucky to speak to Perth Tolle, founder of Life + Liberty Indexes. First of all, Perth spoke to us from Houston, Texas, an area recently hit by Hurricane Laura. Luckily, Houston avoided any severe impact, but unfortunately, the weather did play havoc with Perth’s internet connection, which does mean some of the interview’s audio isn’t quite as clear as usual. But, after a herculean effort from our editors, I really hope you enjoy the episode.

And for a quick introduction, having worked as a private banker for one of the biggest asset managers in the world, Fidelity Investments, 10 years later Perth decided to found her own firm in 2014. Life & Liberty indexes is a purveyor of indices & ETFs designed to produce long-term outperformance in emerging markets while observing the freedom and human rights of the subjects within those nations. Frequently quoted throughout financial media, including numerous Bloomberg interviews, Perth was named one of the Ten to Watch in 2020 by Wealth Management Magazine.

If you’re serious about the impact your investments have on the world, this isn’t one to miss.

During the call, Perth mentions an article by colleague Jin Won Choi that busts the myth of Chinese outperformance in EM funds and indices, here it is:
