Episode description
On this episode of Voices of eLearning, Host JW Marshall talked with Steve Mildner, Chief Revenue Officer, k16 Solutions, and Dr. Thomas Waite, Founder, and CEO of K16 Solutions, which is disrupting the education technology industry by developing a solution that reduces transactional distance – the psychological and geographical gap between students and learning.
The trio talked about the LMS at k16 solutions, keeping the student and staff first in decisions, and leaving the ego on the table.
Waite dug into how it is difficult for EdTech startups to keep the student and the staff at the center of decisions, with investors and corporate boards putting pressure on decision making. At k16, though, they are working to guard their culture with a low ego and humility, which is essential for students and staff, Waite said.
At k16 solutions, they provide an LMS that nobody offers, which is driven by proprietary software systems, instructional design methodologies, and student retention initiatives. The idea for k16 came when Waite, Mildner, and the team were constantly solving problems in their systems and how education could be cheaper. With a solid group of software developers, they built their software. So what makes their software stand out above the rest?
“Building in the cloud for infinite scalability with bleeding-edge architecture is the difference-maker, but there’s also an engine that can bring in within seconds many different varieties of how to push and pull content simultaneously with transformation," Waite said.
