Episode description

Margareta Bancroft, Founder TechEd Connect Executive Recruiters, started her company ten years ago after beginning her career as a science and technology teacher. She earned a masters degree in educational behavior and a PhD in educational leadership and combined her skills to focus on recruiting for leadership positions and senior sales at educational technology companies.

Bancroft joins host JW Marshall for an insightful conversation that covers topics from how the pandemic has led to long lasting changes in the education sector to what the best strategies are for matching high-performing people with what companies are looking for. Educational technology is no longer just a supplement but is now part of the core experience with most institutions using some form of hybrid or remote learning. With these changes, the demand for high-level ed-tech professionals has taken off.

While each company has specific skills and traits they’re looking for in employees, Bancroft stresses the importance of articulating a clear vision of what their needs and expectations for a position are. Likewise, candidates need to present a clear message of their strengths. “Listening to both sides and matching up the values, we call that the culture, but it’s the values, it's the attitude, it’s the passion. It's what motivates each of them,” Bancroft said.

In an industry where relationships matter more than anything else, Bancroft’s goal is to bring honest, sincere people together with authentic and transparent companies. In a mission-driven industry like education collaboration among companies comes with the territory and putting the right people in the right place is a win for everyone.
