Episode description

In this week’s show our guest is Dawait Tafari from Huntsville, Alabama. A Rastafarian since age 15, Mr. Dawait shared with us his experience with the Rastafari movement and discussed its history and members. Developed in Jamaica during the 1930s the central tenet of this faith is the reincarnation of Christ in the form of Haile Selassie, the Ethiopian emperor which they believe to be “The King of Kings and Lord of Lords.” Rastafari consider themselves to be descendants of the tribe of Judah and members of the royal line of King Solomon. We explore their religious practices, beliefs and the differents sects or "mansions" of this religious group.
