Episode description

DuEwa Frazier is an award winning poet, writer, speaker, author, educator, and performer. Born in Brooklyn, NY and raised in Queens, NY and St. Louis, MO, she is the founder of Lit Noire Publishing, a creative arts and publishing organization. DuEwa was a featured TEDx speaker in January 2019 for her talk "Word is Bond," which discusses how K-12 educators can use hip hop to teach social justice awareness.

She has been honored with a Mayor's Proclamation in St. Louis for her artist residency with the University City Arts and Letters Commission, a Black Caucus of ALA Conference Literacy Presenter Award, Writers Digest Publishing Awards honorable mention, and NAACP Image Award nomination.

DuEwa is the author of a children's picture book, Alice's Musical Debut (2019), two teen novels, Quincy Rules (2016) and Deanne in the Middle (2014).  DuEwa is also the author of several books of poetry, including Goddess Under the Bridge: Poems (2013), Shedding Light From My Journeys (2012), and Ten Marbles and Bag to Put Them In: Poems for Children (2010).
