Episode description
Jennifer Ragazzo is a Functional Medicine Health Coach. In her practice, Keeping It Real, Holistic Health Coaching, Jennifer uses her training in Applied Functional Medicine to help her clients optimize their health by looking for the interconnectedness within their unique body, and identify and address root causes to the diseases and symptoms that they may be experiencing. She's particularly passionate about the gut and adrenal health, and preventing and/or treating autoimmune diseases. Jennifer notes, “When we are in a prolonged period of stress, that maybe we are not giving ourselves the opportunity to go from what we call the sympathetic dominant state, or fight or flight state, into a parasympathetic state, which is our rested state.
When we stay in that fight or flight mode for too long, it can have some negative effects on the body.” In this episode, The Brain Possible Founder & CEO, Emily Abbott and Jennifer discuss the physical effects of trauma and long term stressors on our bodies, and mamas' bodies in particular. Listen in to find out more about how being in a fight or flight mode for extended periods of time, or having experienced PTSD once or repeatedly from traumatic experiences affects our bodies, our adrenals, hormones, cortisol levels, anxiety, depression, sleep, and mood.
