Episode description

My guest this week is Dr. Megan Wise who is a licensed physical therapist and a graduate of New York University with a doctoral degree in physical therapy. She's also a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist, Nationally Certified  Pilates Teacher, and a Certified Life Coach.

For the past 5 years she's specialized in performing arts physical therapy and has treated the cast and crews of over 30 Broadway and Off-Broadway productions including Hamilton, Mean  Girls, CATS, and Wicked

She's also had the privilege of working with professional dancers from American Ballet Theatre, New  York City Ballet, Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, and many others.

In this episode we dive into what a Physical Therapist does backstage and some of the biggest mistakes she sees performers making when it comes to handling injuries. We also get on our soap box a bit talking about the difference between performers and athletes.

This conversation is SO important for all performers to hear, so make sure you share it with a friend! Also rate and review this podcast so that it can be found by artists all over the world!

Return to Broadway Program:
If you're unsure of how to get back to rehearsals and performances after a year+ break, you're not alone. This is the first time performing arts has had a true off-season, and no amount of dancing in your kitchen or at-home workouts can really prepare you for the real thing.
This is an 8-week program designed for performing artists to get back to the stage physically and mentally. Using the same training principles and processes as other professional athletes with the knowledge of performing and its common injuries, this program will get you fully prepared for the demands of performing on stage.
