Altered States tells the story of Eddie Jessup, who searches for the origin of humanity and consciousness through a combination of hallucinogens and sensory deprivation. Things start to spiral out of control when his hallucinations begin to change him physically and leak into the real world, threatening those he loves, and himself. This week host Wyndham Jennings breaks down this body horror/surrealist nightmare of a film while discussing the real world inspirations behind the story, and the behind the scenes drama that threatened to derail it's production.
