May 04, 2016•7 min•Transcript available on Metacast Episode description
Major soft drinks companies are releasing their first quarter earnings for 2016. For PepsiCo, most of its overall growth is being driven by its Frito Lay snack business and not so much in its carbonates. Coca-Cola is in the midst of a large restructuring of its distribution landscape, and its quite difficult to get an actual read on how the company itself is performing in terms of sales of soft drinks, but the company did report 2 percent revenue growth. At the time of recording, Dr. Pepper / Snapple had not yet released its results but Euromonitor states the company is not immune to the overall challenges of carbonates in North America but has done a fine job of making strides in investing in alternative, higher value beverage categories.
