November 9 marks the 35th anniversary of the fall of the Wall. We're accompanying the date this year with a podcast series that will be out soon. We spoke to many eyewitnesses for the project. One of them is software developer Mathias Burbach. He lives in Sydney and accompanied and witnessed the fall of the Wall and the period before that as part of the Red Cross. The eyewitness was on site with a team at the embassy in Prague in the last days before the fall of the Wall and looked after the GDR refugees who were staying there. - Am 9. November jährt sich der Mauerfall zum 35. Mal. Wir begleiten das Datum in diesem Jahr mit einer Podcast-Serie, die bald erscheinen wird. Für das Projekt haben wir mit vielen Zeitzeugen gesprochen. Einer von ihnen ist der Softwareentwickler Mathias Burbach. Er lebt in Sydney und hat damals den Mauerfall und die Zeit davor als Teil des Roten Kreuzes selbst begleitet und miterlebt. Der Zeitzeuge war mit einem Team vor Ort in der Botschaft in Prag in den letzten Tagen vor dem Mauerfall und betreute die dort ausharrenden DDR-Flüchtlinge.
