Episode description

Xanthe Grace is a health coach in her 50s located in Poole, on the Dorset Coast, in the UK. When Alex first quit alcohol, she joined One Year No Beer, a Facebook group. One of the first posts she came across was Xanthe's Day 511 post about being alcohol free in an airport. Alex, being an expat and traveller, and having a strong association with airports and alcohol, resonated significantly with this story. In many ways it became her "survival guide." She remembered Xanthe all throughout her sobriety every time she was in an airport (but she couldn't remember Xanthe's name, just the story). Around her day 500, Alex posted about it in OYNB, and someone else tagged Xanthe, thus connecting the two. Alex was super excited to meet someone who inspired her so much in the early days of being alcohol free. In this episode Xanthe tells her story of her childhood in the UK, her marriages and how her husband's affair, the grief of the loss of her mother, and being with a partner who drank heavily influenced her drinking. Xanthe is now happily over three years sober and is now with a partner who rarely drinks, supports her sobriety, and who has helped her get over her nervous flying and allowed her to "fly with confidence." Tune in to hear how someone else's story can become your survial guide. Xanthe is currently taking one-on-one clients for health coaching and can be found on Instagram @xanthegracehealthcoach and at www.xanthegrace.com .
