Amazing Fantasy #15 (1962)
Welcome true believers to Web Tales: A Spider-Man Podcast. The show so good it needed to be spun off (pun intended) to it's own thing. Our goal here is to have fun with our favourite comic book character of all time, Spider-Man. We hope to eventually get through all the issues of Amazing Spider-Man. But this is not your boring high and mighty haughty taughty review here. We have fun with these issues, and the wacky 60s are a fantastic place to start.
This is the issue that started it all, Amazing Fantasy #15. Before he got his own book, Spidey started out in an anthology book that was about to be cancelled. Stan Lee (RIP) pitched the idea of a teenage super-hero, who to date had only been sidekicks, and created a legend in a story that was never meant to go past this issue. We all know his origin from the movies/games/cartoons etc but join Logan and Marc as they look through Peter Parker's first appearance and find out how it really started. We laugh, we cry and we enjoy wheat cakes along the way.
