Ackerman is also an ex–CIA paramilitary officer.
His new book (co-written with Adm. James Stavridis USN (Ret.)) is The New York Times bestseller 2034: A Novel of the Next World War.
Elliott and Chauncey reflect on coming of age during the Reagan years and the meaning of such 1980s film classics as Red Dawn and Top Gun.
Elliot also shares his concerns about America’s new “cold war” rivalry with China, Russia’s aggression towards Ukraine, America’s democracy crisis and the frightening possibility of a second civil war or some other calamity.
In the aftermath of Chauncey DeVega’s health emergency, Elliot shares his thoughts on mortality, living a good life, and what it means to die a good death.
