1721 and Matthew Clarke, in want of money, slays a barmaid. What made this crime so horrific is that he did it whilst kissing her.
1791 and “legal chastisement” spoils over to murder. An interesting case that gives a window into life as a wife in 18th century England.
1794 and a mistress of a landed gentleman has been dumped as he moves forward and weds another. Now ruined and with no prospects in sight, Anne plots revenge.
