The Man Who Stole the Crown Jewels from the Tower of London
Colonol Blood (often incorrectly remembered as Captain Blood) successfully stole the crown jewels from the Tower of London!
He was rewarded by King Charles II - the King he had fought against for many years! In between those activities, he kidnapped a Duke, broke his friend out of jail and was involved in all kinds of political plots in Ireland, Scotland, Holland as well as several in England. A very busy man.
His plots were so infamous that when he died, no one believed it - thinking he was plotting again,.He was disinterred, checked to see that he really was dead, and then reburied.
THAT is a reputation!
