The Starvation Of An Heiress By The Ruthless Fortune Hunter
This infamous case from 1877 captured everyone's imagination. It was commented that the people attending the trial tended to be wealthy, and very well fed, and that women attending treated the court case as if it were a dramatic show. Champagne and caviar were apparently shared between the many attendees.
The Heiress was charmed by a man 10 years younger, who quickly took control of her life and locked her up in the country starving boih her and their child.
Quite extraordinary.
Hosted by Robin Coles.
