Serial Killer Saturday - Dr William Palmer
We start our new series of Serial Killer Saturdays with this infamous case of the "Prince of Poisoners".

To Palmer, no one safe from his killing spree: wife, children, mother-in-law, brother, friends, employees.

Palmer was referenced by Charles Dickens who called Palmer "the greatest villain that ever stood in the old Bailey". Palmer himself is referred to in a Sherlock Holmes story, The Adventure of the Speckled Band.  The story was a sensation in 1855 with some 30,000 spectators arriving to watch him swing.  This crime also has the distinction of bieng one of the first in English trials to feature the poison strychnine.

Now we know where Agatha Christie got her ideas from.😁
Hosted by Robin Coles.
