Our conversation moves across a number of topics starting with what it’s like to be not just the minority leader as a Democrat in a red state, but a state where there is a supermajority and Sarah Huckabee Sanders is the governor. We chat about the strategies Dems have to use to move policy, what political infrastructure issues they face in their positioning, and how they hope to change this in the months and years ahead. Naturally, we had to touch on why Arkansas is so ruby red and how it got to be so – spoiler: it wasn’t always this red. Speaking of the state’s POV on politics, we get into a series of harmful and hateful bills that target Arkansas’ LGBTQA residents.
