A priest who served in the Lord's temple, Zechariah was told by an angel that his barren wife would bear a son. Despite this divine promise, he responded with scepticism, disbelief, and doubt. God, however, takes disobedience seriously, as evidenced by the punishment He imposed on Zechariah. Yet, in His infinite mercy, God transformed this rebuke into a reward, fulfilling His promise and bringing forth a son who would prepare the way for the Messiah.
