Episode description

Today’s guest on the show is Carole Dean, a veteran of the film industry and an expert on how to fund film projects. Carole’s path through the world of filmmaking is absolutely fascinating - she’s been working to help independent filmmakers get their films made for decades, but her approach towards achieving this goal has been constantly evolving.  Today she runs a filmmaker grant program, manages fiscal sponsorships, and provides mentorships for independent filmmakers.  She is the author of the seminal book, The Art of Film Funding and the host of a podcast series of the same name (which I would highly recommend for anyone interested in filmmaking). Although Carole is not focused specifically on films that address conservation issues, the advice that she has to share is highly relevant to anyone looking to fund a conservation project - whether it’s a documentary film, a conservation outreach project, or scientific research.
