Dating in this season comes with new terms of engagement because although you may be a solo momma, you are not solo! You've got your kiddos to think about. It can be tempting to focus on romance when you're in love, but when children are involved, you have a sacred responsibility to make wise dating decisions that reflect what's best for all involved.

That's a lot to consider when you haven't even cast your line out into the fishpond yet.

Remember, you want something different and not the same mistake with a different person!

So, if you think you are ready to date again or are even considering it, let's toss around six practical tips to guide you through the process.

  1. Your Healing Comes First
  2. Know Your Motivation
  3. Become the Right Person
  4. Choose Character First
  5. Guard Your Sexual Integrity
  6. Wait to Involve Your Kids

CAUTION SIGNS: You need to put a stop to your dating relationship if the person you're dating does any of the following:

  • Pressures you to get married before you're ready to do so.
  • Has an extremely different approach to parenting than you do.
  • Is addicted to alcohol or drugs.
  • Demands to be the center of attention all the time.
  • Can't stop his or her ex-spouse from interfering in your life.
  • Wants to live with you before marriage.
