On top of all of that, fossil fuel companies require billions of dollars in subsidies just to stay alive, and even with those government handouts they were on their last leg in 2016. So why did the Trump Administration focus so much of its efforts on bolstering the dying industry? And what are the long term effects of the pro-fossil fuel administration?

This week, we speak with Dr. Shanti Gamper-Rabindran about her new book "America's Energy Gamble". Dr. Gamper-Rabindran is an associate professor in the Graduate School of Public and International Affairs at the University of Pittsburgh.
