Happy Spooky Wednesday! Happy New Year! Happy first week of True Crime January! We’re starting this month with a discussion on Ed Gein, also known as the Butcher of Plainfield. He was an American murderer, suspected serial killer and grave robber. Gein's crimes, committed around Plainfield, Wisconsin, gathered widespread notoriety in the late 50s after authorities discovered that he had dug up corpses from local graveyards and built furniture from their bones and skin. He also confessed to killing two women, but is suspected of killing more. There are multiple claims of his actions causing paranormal activity in the town, but is there really a ghost? Or just morbid tourists who won’t leave these poor townspeople alone?
Content warning: descriptions of murder, dismemberment, and sexual abuse.
