In her Coaching business, Makini was mentored by the late Bob Proctor. With his guidance she has grown her business, successfully servicing individual entrepreneurs and corporate customers.

Makini's experience with two poor publishing contracts inspired her to found her own publishing company. She is passionate about honoring the stories of women of color and helping other women avoid the pitfalls she had to endure.
