In this week’s episode, Rebecca Jones is joined by the Athletic Director from the University of Saint Katherine, Alyssa Ramos. Growing up an athlete herself, Ramos quickly found her passion and purpose in her job at Saint Katherine. As a woman in a predominantly male field, Ramos understands that any difficulties she may face are opportunities for success. When asked for one word to describe herself, Ramos says she is driven and that that is what has helped her push the envelope in her career. Ramos measures success by ensuring that her sports programs are focusing on developing their players as a whole person, not just as athletes. At Saint Katherine, they focus on winning championships, becoming good human beings, and developing spiritual formations. Ramos acknowledges that she has had immense room for growth in her career, and recognizes the importance of having compassion and trust in the workplace. Ramos places importance on communicating clearly with those around her and on meeting them where they’re at. When asked to give advice for young women following in her footsteps, Ramos encourages young women to have a strong sense of identity and that you need to truly know yourself if you want to lead.
