Hair woes and afros.

In this episode I chat with my sister, Awura Abena, about our hair. We talk all things from our hair being compared to pubes, straightener trauma, proximity to whiteness, and to coming into the blackity blackness of our afros. 

The Subtlety of It is about seemingly small aspects of our identity which affect us in not so subtle ways. Let's unpack these things - consciously, openly and unapologetically. Hosted by Nana with guests. 

The Subtlety of It is recorded and produced on the stolen land of the Wurundjeri People of the Kulin Nation. I would like to pay my respect to the Ancestors who protect this sacred land and live and speak through community members. I would like to also pay my respect to Elders and community members who are the ongoing custodians of this land and pass on knowledge of Country and the beauty of their cultures through generations. Sovereignty was never ceded. This land always was, always will be, Aboriginal land.
