In this podcast episode, we spoke with Dan Gaebler.  Dan is the owner of Laser Plumbing, a specialist subcontractor in Sydney operating across commercial and residential & maintenance sectors.

He is also the Author of a best selling book called "The Centred Tradie" - detailing his experiences with anger, anxiety and life in the construction industry.

We discussed his book and his thoughts on the stress and strains involved in the construction industry. Dan describes the coping mechanisms he took to overcome his mental struggle with rage and anxiety as well as his path towards rebuilding his life.

He provided some useful advice based on his experiences on the journey he is taking.  He shared with us the experience he had when that day finally arrived and he took the necessary action to overcome his mental challenges and how he would then apply it to the construction industry.

We discussed a variety of topics, including fatherhood, self-awareness, and mental health. We enjoyed a really fascinating chat, all in all, getting a solid understanding of some of the challenges that many men in the industry are encountering, as well as how they are managing them.

Amongst other things, in this podcast we discussed:

  • The challenges of running a subcontracting business
  • De-escalating disagreements within the construction industry
  • His background, experiences and why he wrote the book.
  • Meditation and reiki

If you're affected by any of the issues discussed in the podcast, Dan is open to speaking with you and supporting you.  He encourages you to reach out on any social media platform, and he'll offer any advice or guidance he can.  In the meantime, if you are interested in reading his book, here is a link to it on the Amazon website (also available in many other retail outlets).
