June 6- Alma 3:13-14
The Amlicites marked themselves with red on their heads, now, I know they are the bad guys in this story...but I think we can learn a lot about making ourselves distinct and different from the world by how we are.

Alma accuses Nahor of Priestcraft and of setting himself up as a light. As teachers and parents and in our callings we must make an effort not to be like Nahor, we have to always strive to point others to Christ and then get out of the way of His glorious message.
GIDEON!!!! That amazing, rock solid disciple of Jesus Christ shows us what it means to be a defender of truth.
Nehor the Anti-Christ taught the people all sorts of half truths, and he was effective because it is so much easier to believe a half truth than a bold faced lie. This is the same strategy that satan uses in our day. He flatters and spreads half truths trying to lull us into carnal security.
Today we look at concerns that Mosiah had as he was trying to establish a new government, and they are concerns that we should have as we elect our nations leaders.
What happens to Alma and the sons of Mosiah after this conversion experience? There action shows the depth of their conversion!
What do we believe as members of the church, about being born again? In these verses the Lord makes it pretty clear.
Today we talk about the rebellion of Alma the Younger and the prayers that his father and the people offered up, which were the catalyst for his change.
Have you ever come across something that you just didn't know how to do? Alma is going to give us a pattern how to move forward in those situations.
Mosiah 26 starts out by explaining that the rising generation didn't have the same conversion as their parents because they were just little during the time of King Benjamin. It made me think, we can't count on our kids being converted because we are, we have to help them have opportunities to have the gospel sink deep in their hearts.
As we go through hard times, let's not forget that we worship a God who delivers. And even when that deliverance might not come as we hoped, lets take comfort in the deliverer.
When have you seen the immediate goodness of God in your life?
How did the Lord bear the burdens of Alma and his people? It has something to do with the covenants that they had made.
Mosiah 23 helps us better understand the age old question: Why do bad things happen to good people?
This chapter says that the Lord was slow to hear the prayers of the people. Have you ever felt that way? Today we talk about what we can do and learn when the answers to our prayers is no.
Today we talk about the spiritual gift of temperance.
Who are your favorite unsung heroes of the scriptures? One of my favorites is found in this chapter.
Today we talk about the difference between priesthood power and priesthood authority, the command to be knit together, and our own personal waters of Mormon.
Today we talk about the process of conversion and how when we come to understand who Christ is, it leads us to repentance and to be more like Him. And to love as He would love.
Often times when we talk about the martyrdom of Abinadi we say that he was killed for teaching about Christ...that isn't necessarily true. Today we look at WHY Noah was so angry and what we can do to keep from falling into the same trap.
Today we look at the comparison we get for Mormon between a righteous leader and a wicked one.
Abinadi teaches that the sting of death is swallowed up in Christ. Today we talk about the different ways that is true.
Justice, Love and Mercy meet in a perfect harmony divine!
Abinadi teaches the wicked priests that the law is ALL about Jesus!
Abinadi tells the priests of Noah that they don't understand with their hearts. What is the role of our hearts in gospel learning? We'll talk about it today!
Sometimes in the scriptures we get so focused on the incredible wickedness of the people that we overlook the incredible mercies of God. Rather than writing the people off and walking away, He sends a prophet to invite the people to repent and change. God is always inviting us to change through prophets and through the Holy Ghost.
Today as we see the war hungry Lamanites come against Zeniff and his people we are struck with how the anger of the Lamanites poisoned their spirits and made them unfeeling.
As Zeniff prepares his people for war, we can learn a lot about the things we can do to strengthen and fortify our homes and lives against the adversary.
Today we learn a principle from Zeniff's life that can help us be more diligent on the covenant path.
The scriptures talk about the sin of "vain ambition." Is that what lead to the downfall of Zeniff and his people?
