Her first book, “Interpreter of Maladies,” won the Pulitzer Prize in 2000 and she was a recipient of the National Humanities Medal in 2014. The story was originally published in 1948 and is included in the July 27, 2020, issue of The New Yorker —a bonus issue made up of pieces from the magazine’s archive on the subject of American dissent.
