¶ Intro / Opening
Hello and welcome to another episode of Words With Myself.
¶ Introduction to the Chaos
It is strange times we live in, and a time where attention has become one of the most precious commodities in our world. As the world embraces globalism, we have more and more that demands our attention. So what happens is people try to condense information into as short a form as possible so that it will not only keep people engaged but it will also be able to condense along other sides of information people need to know lots of little facts not lots about a particular.
¶ The Rise of Extremism
Event or it's not so much that they don't need to but they don't have time to and to give anything any length or depth is to almost miss the mark things happen too quickly and by the time that you have researched or understood what's really going on the events have already passed and it's too late and this has kind of created this breeding ground for extremism because the only things that can capture people's attention and provide that shock value because
if it's not sensationalized if it's not dramatic or extreme it doesn't give reason for people to prioritize that over all of the other things that are screaming that they are the most important thing this in itself means that in order for people to get attention which is highly desirable and also highly financially incentivized they need to create content that is shocking dramatic and extreme so this is then exacerbated
by all of this content that's coming out that's all trying to outdo each other and fight for this small frame of attention of which they are competing at a global scale. With this kind of competition, extremism is natural. It's almost a necessity in order just to get noticed. And it draws you in. There's no point trying to argue or reason with extremism because the more you actively try to fight it, the more it grows.
You have to match that energy. You have to be as advocative of the opposite as them. So just by fighting that extreme, you're then creating this polar opposite.
¶ Politics and Polarization
You create this matching opposing force until sooner or later the more and more you fight an extreme you become an extreme yourself but there are plenty of people in the middle there are plenty of people that can see both sides of the story to sit not on one extreme or the other but have a more balanced view but of course this doesn't capture attention the reasonable and the rational get thrown out because they're simply not interesting or exciting enough we can
see this play out in politics and we see that it's all or nothing they have created two very polarized opposites there is an extreme left and an extreme right and in terms of being a centrist is almost unheard of now or you just don't hear about it even though a majority of people are somewhere in the middle but all you hear about is the far left or the far right but that's not the voice of society that's just the voice of two political extremes reason or rationale has little to do
with modern day politics everything is about extreme polarization creating opposites and dichotomies because they don't want harmony people who are in harmony and unified are strong. And are able to combat and change things. Peaceful, content people do not generate much revenue. They're not interested in showing off, or fighting for more, or pursuing this material wealth, because they understand that system is flawed, that it doesn't really bring you any true peace or happiness.
¶ The Illusion of Control
Enough is never enough, no matter how much you have. It will never be enough, until you realize that you already have and are everything you have ever needed. But that line of thinking isn't in line with capitalist societies who want to make more money. That's essentially all it comes down to. Profit, power and control. And you don't achieve these things on a mass scale without control of the masses.
It isn't normal everyday society that profits from things like war and diseases and health issues. No, of course it's not. It's the institutions that provide the support for that. And so long as you need that support and rely on it, they have a hold of you. They have something that you need and can't live without.
¶ Misdirection and Distraction
So all of this extremism, all of this chaos provides an immaculate distraction. So they have people so focused on what they're showing you that you can't see all of the things that they're not showing you it's the classical magician's trick of misdirection look over here but don't look over here see what i'm doing with this hand but you know all the while i'm actually performing the trick with my other hand but you're looking here so you don't see the actual mechanics behind the trick.
And that's what the whole system is about. Creating polarities, creating extremisms, fighting between dichotomies, turning genders and race and sexes all against each other, so that there is so much chaos, you cannot see what lies beneath the dust.
All you can see is chaos and when you start paying attention to this chaos even for a moment it sucks you in because you see these things that you vehemently disagree with this extreme where somebody could be saying something that is so wrong that you know you almost feel obliged to speak up and stand up against it in order for you to do good or feel like you're a good person you know you have to say something but the problem is is the people on the two sides
of the extremes both think this way and they both think that they're right and they think if you don't think my way the whole world's going to go to shit both parties are looking at each other saying you're the tyrant you're the villain you're the intruder you're the enemy and this is what they do is you know they'll create an enemy of the other side so that even will go to the lengths of dehumanizing the others and calling them animals or rats or vermin and it's all an idea it's
all an illusion to draw you out from the real facts that these are real people on the other side because if you can empathize with them if you can understand them on a human level you won't be able to fight them you won't have that anger in you. You won't have that uncontrollable burning desire to get involved. But as I've said, as soon as you try to fight an extreme, you end up creating another extreme.
If you want to prove some extreme idea is true, you have to go to extreme lengths to create the test or to justify yourself. The more extreme, the more things you need, the more elaborate it is. So when you look at something as complicated as.
¶ The Burden of Global Suffering
Geopolitics or military industrial complex you notice that ah there's a lot of good reasons why this kind of situation has been created because in order to buy into this experiment in order to buy into this extreme we have to create one hell of an enemy we have to have such an example of something so horrific that it makes people think oh my god that that something has to be done about this but the truth be told is we know very little about what's going on with these wars we don't really
know the true motivations behind it and all it is is that ordinary people suffer they the only people that miss out is us society we're the people that lose out every time and it's all because you get told what is good and what is bad and you don't really figure it out for yourself you know people will support one side of a war and not the other but they've never been to either place and they don't really know what's going on they just have read
something somewhere that they believe is true and that's why they held their beliefs and they're perfectly entitled to do that but for those of you who feel powerless and overwhelmed by all of this and like you don't really want to get involved you just want to live in peace and harmony really the only way is to focus on what is real in your life.
To switch off the news to switch off all of this input about what is going on and this tragedy and that tragedy and it sounds selfish it sounds like well how dare you be ignorant to the sufferings of the world how can you just live your life as if it's not going on but you can only pretend otherwise you have to buy into an illusion because it's not true for you unless you're going to go over there and see for yourself that's not your reality that's not
what you live in and you should be very grateful for the fact that that's not what you live in you know because it happens around the world we know that suffering happens in the world we know that there's deeply war-stricken countries we know that there's deeply impoverished countries and it is horrific and if you want to change your reality and move over there and get involved and have an impact then you are entitled to but living in your reality here and trying to pretend
about things which are not affecting you in any way other than what you read and what you consume this is a fallacy it's make-believe you're angry about things you're upset about things that aren't happening to you they're happening somewhere else in someone else's reality or somewhere else they're not happening in your present moment and in your present moment that. Is all you have is true the only. Truth is here and now where you are and.
The more you step into reality the more you ground yourself in where you are today your own life your own experience that is when that anxiety will start to melt away Because you're not taking on All of these mythical problems You're not taking on the problems of the world. You are dealing and reserving your capacity for your own life and your own family.
And believe me, there's enough there. Like there's enough to be concerned about just for yourself, let alone for your family and then let alone out of your community.
But because of the way the world is at the moment, we are taught and made to feel like that's not enough, that we have to care about all of these things that are not within our reality that are happening all around the globe and made to feel guilty but there are too many problems there are too many things going on for you to feel like you can take that on those burdens or those responsibilities when you have lots of responsibilities around you you have lots to
do that you can focus on within your reality without taking on problems that exist outside of it all truths exist within balance and harmony that is a universal law it permeates everything that can ever be said that is true is there are two sides to it and they are equally balanced light and dark good and bad everything at harmony so you can either be in harmony with two extremes you have an extreme good and extreme bad, and that's balanced.
¶ Finding Balance in Extremes
Or you can come to the middle and you can be balanced there without having to be thrown from one extreme to the other, or without having to fight against one opposing force that is ever growing. And that's the true antidote to extremism is finding balance, being rational, being reasonable, seeing both sides of the argument.
If you don't have all of the facts if you don't have all of the information which is borderline impossible in most situations you will always have a bias and you will be biased in the direction of the more information that you have so if you have if you're more informed on one side than the other you're going to be more biased in that direction so one could argue that the most informed position is the person who says, I don't really know.
And the person who doesn't know doesn't have that responsibility or that affirmation of this is the right answer. It doesn't have that force behind it because there are some things that you truly don't know. And when it comes to convincing somebody else of something, it's almost impossible to say that you know what's best for them because you don't. We only know what is best for each other. So again, it comes back to the idea that you need to focus on your own presence.
Your own reality. Everything else is surplus. It's all extra and what concerns you is you and you can have your own thoughts, your own beliefs, your own opinions and you don't have to justify them to absolutely anyone. Convincing others that you are right only serves the ego. You don't need to convince anyone that you're right. You don't need other people to believe you. You just need to know that that's what you believe and that's absolute.
¶ Embracing Individual Beliefs
There are no extremes in that line of thinking. It's you believe what you want to believe and I'll believe what I want to believe. That's balance. That's peace. It's harmony. You can only truly perceive reality through your experiences, through what you think and feel and have gone through.
There is no point in getting your idea and understanding of life from somebody who hasn't gone through anything that you've gone through or had any of the experiences that you have experienced or hasn't collected that information in the way that you have because their conclusion is going to be based on a completely different set of data and there's no point in arguing about it because that person's data says this is right and your data says this is right and you're both
right you both just got different data the only wrong thing is the conflict is the fighting about it is trying to say you're wrong and i'm right or i'm right and you're wrong once you let go of that you can float like a cloud you can breathe easy and you can enjoy peace and harmony in your life because you're not trying to prove anything or fight anything all you're doing is holding and maintaining your own space for you to live and enjoy your reality on your terms. Thank you for listening.
