¶ Intro / Opening
Hello and welcome to another episode of Words With Myself.
¶ The Challenge of Patience
Patience is a difficult thing to truly define, to pin down what it means to be patient.
¶ Action and Patience in Achieving Goals
I remember last year doing a reel about this very topic and how there is a time for patience but patience needs to coincide with action and you need to be moving towards what you want in order for you to be awaiting the results. And I still believe this to be true. In fact, I know it to be true. I know that I can't just say what I want and have dreams and goals and then sit on my hands and expect it to come to me.
I can't manifest anything if I'm not open to the possibility of it arising and then taking the action when it's needed. Patience alone is not going to bring you what you want. You need to be taking decisive action and once that action has been taken. Then you need to be patient.
But then there's always this fine line between well how do I know when I've done enough or how do I know that I don't need to do more when do I be patient and when do I rest and that's a difficult question to answer because it depends entirely on the results that you want to get for instance if there are two people that want to earn a thousand pounds and one of them spends every waking minute trying to achieve that a thousand pounds and sacrifices everything and another person who does it in
his spare time the chances are the person who dedicates every minute to it is going to accomplish the goal quicker than the person who is only devoting a segmented amount.
Of time to it of course this isn't guaranteed because there are too many variables the person could have more opportunities or more skill or more knowledge that can transfer into getting that a thousand pounds so he doesn't need to work as often or as hard but let's take the case where everything is exactly the same it's a you versus you situation it would be that you would likely achieve the goal by dedicating more time to it rather than segmenting
your time and only doing it when you feel like it or when you want to do it or when you can do it but when it comes to real life and our goals and ambitions we need to seriously consider how we are portioning our time what we are doing to manage our time and how we're spending it because yes it might be that you can get to where you want to go let's say you've got a fitness goal and you want to get in shape you could probably get
fitter and in shape far quicker if you dedicated every minute towards gym and rest and recovery and eating right and not attending to your family and not going to work not doing those things that you need to do and sacrificing everything just to accomplish that goal.
¶ The Balance of Life
You will have lost a lot in the process. You will have not spent time with your family. You will not spend time with your loved ones and your friends. You'll have missed out on things that you value. So life ends up becoming this balancing act where we dedicate given amounts of time to the things that need our attention. We try to fit it all in, but sometimes some things require more attention than others. And sometimes you just have to prioritize.
And that's the nature of life. and this is where the patience comes in within that balance to accept that it is not a race or it's certainly not a sprint we're not trying to get there as fast as possible we're trying to live a good and healthy life and that means maintaining balance it means doing things as they need to be done and not forcing things not pushing that's the trap is believing that we can control the outcome and we control life we can force it
to submit to our will and we can make sure that we get what we want when we want it but for anyone who's tried to do anything in life i'm sure you know that's not how it works that's not how life works you can spend an amount of time trying to do something and going at it and at it and at it and it's just not working and then you leave you give up or you take a breath or you go outside and all of a sudden when you come back to it it works first time as easy as pie it was
like there was no problem to begin with because sometimes.
Forcing it or trying harder or doing more is not going to get you any further sometimes it's all about timing and you can't force the right time you can just wait for the right time and that is why when you are being patient you can plan you can prepare you can make sure that when that time is right when the opportunity arises that you are ready to go that you are absolutely confident in your abilities you've done all the preparation you can and you're going to execute with precision
something like gardening teaches you this really well because that is a way to get in touch with the real natural order of things. It doesn't matter how many times I water my plant in a day. It's not like if I water it seven times a day that the plant's going to grow quicker or any better. In fact, it's likely to kill it. You need to give the plant the nutrients it needs and the food it needs and then leave it and then you can return to your patients.
Once the action has been carried out, once you've done what you needed to do, doing any more is likely to cause more harm than it is good. So you might feel like you can do more. You might feel like you can study more or work harder or do more, but it doesn't guarantee that you're going to have a better outcome or a sooner outcome. A lot of the time, we just feel like that's the case, that we need to do more or give things more attention, more time, more effort in order to make them happen.
¶ Timing and Preparation
But consistency and patience will prove far better results than trying to force something. If I'm studying for a test, it doesn't matter if I sit there for hours and hours and hours on end trying to prep for the test.
At a certain point, the information is not even going in anymore and i'm just going to get frustrated and annoyed and not want to do it it's going to be a completely miserable experience whereas if i dedicate a couple of hours a day towards concentrated focus on that task and then move on with the rest of my day and do something else or something i want to do then i'm going to be much better prepared for that test than somebody who waited until the last week and then try to cram, cram, cram.
And that is historically every way I've passed every test I've ever done. But just because something works, that doesn't mean that it's optimal. And in that case, it might work, but in others, it doesn't. Exactly like the plant example. Whereas watering the plant just as much as it needs every day. The plant is going to grow beautiful and healthy. I can't force the plant to grow. I can't want the plant to grow.
The plant will grow when it is ready and the same with your ideas, the same with your dreams. You need to give them the attention, the focus and the work that they need. No more, no less. This will work far better than trying to get some momentum, building up a bit of momentum, going absolutely ham for a bit and then burning out and fatigue and then stopping or crumbling or failing.
¶ The Art of Doing Things Well
The delicate art of doing things well is exactly that it is using precision and giving things just as much as they need just like cooking you know not too much of one ingredient and not too little it has to be perfect in order to give the best results and you may get results with other methods but you won't get the best results you won't see the best from yourself you won't feel the best you won't perform the best. You're likely to be stressed or anxious or fearful.
Whereas if you are relaxed and you know things will come, it's a certainty. You're not in any rush. There's no panic. You are doing things as they come. You do the work when it needs to be done and you await the results. To detach from the timeline of things in our head where we've perceived that something should happen within a given time frame or something should happen because we want it to happen.
¶ Letting Go of Expectations
Once you let go of that and you free yourself from this expectation of either yourself or the universe, you are free to perform as you need to without panic, without stress, without worry. You can do exactly what is required of you and if you feel like you're doing everything you can and you're being patient and the results just simply aren't coming there is likely to be some sort of block there is something that is stopping you from proceeding whether that is psychological.
Energetic or physical something is preventing you from moving forward whether that be an action that you need to take or something that you need to understand, a lesson that needs to be learned, something is preventing you from accelerating. And this can often be down to either your clarity of vision, what you're actually asking for is probably attainable right now. You might be asking for something like, I want nice clothes. And having lots of money isn't the only way to get nice clothes.
You could make nice clothes. You could go to a charity shop.
You could do lots of things you know to dress nice you don't need money and they say money doesn't buy fashion sense and that's absolutely true you know you can dress well and you can dress nicely if you're talking about nice materials and nice fit clothes and you know nice things to wear there are lots of ways to do that that don't involve money and if you're saying well money is the blocker for me doing this money is not the actual blocker you're looking in the wrong place and
until you alleviate that block and really understand what it is that you want and why you want it no amount of patience is going to help you because there's action to be taken you're just not seeing what that action is you are fixated on something and people will do this all the time you know they say well i don't have the time but then they do have the time they're just not prioritizing it as something that needs to be done or they don't want
to get up early or they don't want to work late then the chances are they probably don't actually want the thing that they think that they want they just think that it would be nice if people saw that they had it or people would respect them or there's some ulterior motive that isn't pure it isn't in alignment with who they truly are and this applies to something non-physical it could be someone saying well I don't have any friends I want
to make some friends but won't go out of their way to start interacting with people or putting themselves out there or attending clubs or going to where people meet. The work is a precursor to patience. You can be patient up until there is work to be done. If you feel like you're being patient, but it's not happening, the chances are there's something that needs to be done.
¶ The Work Before Patience
There is an action that you're not seeing. You are blinded or restricted or have these limiting beliefs that are preventing you from seeing the true action that needs to be taken. There is something in you that is limited and blocked. Why can't you do and get what you want? Why is it not with you? Tell me truly why it can't happen.
And the chances are that they are excuses and you might say well they're not excuses but that's because you can't see from the outside perspective that they are in fact excuses if it relates to you not prioritizing something or you being scared or you not wanting to do something or you not wanting to be out your comfort zone they're all excuses it doesn't matter how justified your excuses are you might have had a really tough childhood you might have been bullied something horrible
might have happened to you that prevents you from doing this but they're still excuses and as horrible as that sounds it is a matter of fact people accomplish things every day despite enormous overbearing odds against them and yet they prevail they succeed because their motivation and their willingness and their want is so strong that they will overcome any odds they will do anything that is necessary and that is why the why is so important because if you don't have a strong
why you're not going to do it you can be like well I'm all right now you know I'm living all right I'm comfortable so I don't really want to put myself through something really hard or really difficult or really challenging to get there because I'm all right now I'm comfy then you don't really want it and you need to stop.
Believing that you do and detach from it and let go and free yourself from this feeling that you need to get it or need to accomplish it that goal or that dream or that ambition is obviously not something that you are absolutely invested in and if your life is not something that you are absolutely invested in then what's the point why are you working towards something why are you doing what you're doing just to prolong your existence
just to prolong your suffering if you are not getting to where you want to be in the process of it or doing the things that you want to do, doing the things that you love. What's the point? There is nothing else to do apart from what you love and want to do. That's it. That's apart from the responsibilities which you do out of love for those that you have the responsibility to.
That's it. That's what you do. If something like the fear of putting yourself out there or the fear of being judged is going to prevent you from getting what you want, then do you really deserve it? Are you worthy of something that you want? That thing that you want, Are you the person that is deserving of that? Because if you're not willing to do the work, if you're not willing to do the difficult things and do the hard work, why do you deserve that?
You have to take brutal accountability for your actions and your desires and say, this is what I want, this is why I want it, and this is how I'm going to get it.
¶ Accountability for Your Desires
Because if that's not in place, you're just ambling through life. Detached and comfortable.
And that might feel safe but at the end of your life will you be happy that you took that safe path that you avoided risk that you got through to the end and didn't accomplish the things that you wanted to accomplish because to me that's far more painful far more fear inducing far more scary than the thought of doing something uncomfortable or difficult to achieve what I want to achieve and I tell you what I will stand by and put my money on the table against these words if
you believe that there is something that you want that you truly truly want and you're doing everything capable of and it's not a case of just being patient and waiting for the timing if there is something that meets those criteria that you're not getting message me on instagram tell me that it's happening we'll have a conversation about it and see how to make it happen, Because I guarantee you, if you're doing everything possible and you're doing
the work, you're being patient, you're planning, you're doing what you need to be doing. I guarantee you the universe is going to listen to that. It can't avoid it. It can't ignore it. It sees someone doing what they need to do that is right. Naturally, the law and order of nature is going to be rewarded that. If you look after your garden, the garden will become beautiful.
If you give it the right amount of water the right amount of food the right amount of nutrients your plants your garden will blossom and the same for your life if you're doing what is required, if you are doing the things that you know that you need to do not that somebody else knows that you need to do that you know that you need to do if you're not doing that then you can't even begin to speak about why am I not getting what
I want why am I not where I want to be in life you're not doing what even you know you need to be doing.
¶ The Universe Rewards Alignment
So the universe is not going to flow through you if you are not in alignment. If you're not doing what you say you are going to do, if you're not doing what you know that you need to do, the universe is not going to reward that.
It will reward you standing by your wants and needs and actions, standing by what you say, standing by the things that you need to do and accomplish if you have a core pure intentful reason why and you're doing everything that you can in order to achieve it i promise you the universe will reward that thank you for listening.
