POCcorn - Turning Red

The POCcorn podcast reviews films created, directed and/or starring People of Color. Each show uses four questions to describe our thoughts on the film, plus one POCcorn moment we simply MUST discuss in detail.

In this episode, we discuss Turning Red and select the "My Friends are My Safe Space" scene as our POCcorn moment. This animation is yet another Pixar Therapy Session, but with boy bands and puberty mixed in. We felt truly seen as the hormonal, emotional, developing teenagers we were. And felt no truer "coming-of-age" animation could compare in regards to managing your emotions, family expectations, and celebrity crushes. Plus, the soundtrack is so addictive.
