GTG: "Girlfriends Talking Girlfriends" Season 3 Ep. 13 & 14

In episode 13, William and Joan are passed over for partner at their firm; and for another black lawyer no less! William is outraged to the point of quitting to start his own practice, while Joan stays behind to endure the competition of two POC vying for the same spot. This inspired talks about affirmative action and being valued at your job.

In episode 14, Maya finds a kindred spirit in another single black mother trying to make it on her own. The relationship seems refreshing and affirming. However, Maya gets seduced by the idea that she is entitled to all of her privileges and lack thereof. Thankfully, Joan reels her back in before she truly jeopardizes her and Jabari's life. We discuss the necessity of having all stories told, regardless of our own bias. Listen in!
