Now we got to go to 2%, then 1%, then we're going to be one of the top ones and short and sweet episodes, man. We're not going to be two and three hours long. There are some programs that are out there that are great. But man, sometimes man, I just need a hit. And go about my day. And so that's how I have designed. These episodes.
So thank you so much for being here. So let's get right to it. Let's. Don't delay any more today, man, what I want to do is I want to talk about the power. Of your inner compass. And the set all of this up. Have you ever found yourself feeling lost? Uh, running in circles or chasing outcomes. And you just, you can't seem to grasp them. Yeah. I mean, it's just like, it's happening for everybody else. But it's not happening for you. And don't you feel just frustrated?
Like, you're just like, bro, what, what is it about me? How many times have you stopped and started, stopped and started. And then you get this new program and then you try that and then you see something else and you try that and you're just. You know, you're just, you're you're, you're like chasing two rabbits catches. None of them. You go on all these kinds of diff different directions and bro just completely wears you out. The reason why you're not getting the results. That you desire?
Is probably because you're using someone else's map. Instead of developing your own inner compass. And today's episode is inspired by Adam Grant's new book. Hidden potential. And today I'm going to explore the idea of embracing the discomfort. Of forging your own path. It ain't going to be it. Ain't going to be smooth all the time. But trusting your inner compass. While taking on this path. And why starting the move doesn't require a detailed map.
But rather a coppice to guide you in the right direction. So that's the problem you're looking for. The perfect map. Right. And you're copying someone else's map. Instead of developing. Your own inner compass. This takes a degree of trust in yourself. And that is part of the reason why you're using someone else's map. A, it gives you someone else to blame takes the responsibility off yourself. And B. Because of where you are today, financially. Fitfully.
You may or may not be in the shape that you want to be in your bank account and your body both are in the, in the, in the crapper. And so it's hard to trust yourself. But true success in finding your true north. It's not by copying someone else's map. It's developing your own inner compass, because let me tell you something. You could ask me how I got to where I'm at today. And you could follow step-by-step. But you won't get the same results.
Because our environments and the way we process things. And just are day in and day out activities. What goes on in my house every day is not a carbon copy of what goes on in yours. It's completely different. What goes on at your job is going to be totally different. What's going on in my job. What's going on with your loved ones. It's not going to be the same as mine. We're all going to be different.
So if you were so rigid and copying my step-by-step guidance, you'd be like, Marsh this don't work. Of course, it's not going to work. Because you're using my map instead of developing your own inner compass your compass it's, what's going to guide you throughout the day. It's going to give you positioning. Where you're in alignment, you're heading in the direction. Yet, you still have to navigate. For the terrain that's in front of you. Engaging in this process.
Of self navigation is going to require you to be active and curious. Okay. Active is not just going to come to you so many times. People want to sit on that couch behind me. And just wait for, well, I'm just waiting on the Lord. I'm waiting on things to come to it. It's not going to happen. You have to be the one to go out there. and brave (& break) some shit.
You got to go out there and do some things and cut against the grain where everybody else is saying, you're stupid, where you're going against what everybody else is doing. You're not in this herd mentality. You got to go out there. And go a different direction. Because. It's in alignment with your true north, you have this inner calling and you may not be able to really conceptualize it yet. And you may not be able to tell it to others, but you just know. Uh, direction that you need to go.
And that's why developing this inner compass. Is so key. Because as you do. As you forge this path. You're going to develop more clarity and knowledge. From all the resources that are around you. This requires curiosity. This requires creativity. This is part of the five CS that I talk about every day. Communication. Uh, curiosity, creativity. Continuous learning and action. It productive confrontation. So you've got to confront the terrain. You got to be curious and ask.
Okay. Well, What. W w what's going on? What do I see? You, you gotta be creative instead of bitch, and that you don't have a helicopter to come swoop you in and drop you on the summit of success. You got to sit there and you've got a question and you've got to be creative and say, I don't have what that guy has. But what do I have? And you become resourceful. When you lack the resources and all the while you're learning and you're applying what you learn. And you're communicating.
Not only with yourself. But with others. This is why I bang the drum on the five. CS is just five skills that you need every day. It's not as difficult as we think life is super simple. It's not easy. But make it simple. I got to communicate. I gotta be curious. I gotta be creative. I gotta be a continuous learner. I got to confront. You do that every day, man, you'll be RFA ready for anything. Back to the top of the episode. So as you go along this terrain, Using a COMPAS.
Requires you to ask questions. And FIO figure it out on your own. Through creativity and action. Now, let me tell you something. You're going to have challenges along the way. Let me go ahead and forewarn you. It's not going to be rainbow blow pops and unicorns is not going to be linear. It's not going to be in line sequential. It's not going to be a straight shot. I thought I was going to be there Marsh by the end of the month. Nope. Not going to happen.
You're gonna have all kinds of challenges. And what I like about a COMPAS. Is it's directional. It's not directive. See a map. Is directive where here, get to hear, get to hear, get, to hear, get, to hear all of our terrains. All of our lives are different. So what's good about developing your inner compass. It's directional gives you the direction. But it doesn't. Show you the obstacles. The obstacles. You meet. The pitfalls. The shortcomings, the embarrassing moments.
You're going to have those it's okay. You're developing skills and know-how some, some of the stuff you're going to use later. Some of the things that you're going to use right now. But what's good. Is this is your skin in the game. Developing that inner confidence inner compass develops that inner confidence. This is how you G you got to earn confidence. And then just come to you. You can't buy it on Amazon. You got to earn it.
And so the way that you earn it, It's about trusting yourself more and more every day. It's not a full trust. And you become more self-reliant you ask questions. Okay. What am I seeing here? What's going on. What can I use? Confront boom. Back on the terrain. So you've got to. Adjust for. The terrain. The obstacles. Oh, this wasn't on the map. No, it's not on the map. But am I heading in the right direction? If I am. Make these slight course corrections. And you keep going.
Now sometimes you're going to get on a dead end. A dead end. does not mean the end of the journey. Sometimes a dead end is there for protection. It's there to stall you out a minute. So that way, maybe there's some internal skills and foundational skills that you need to develop. Sometimes you're going to hit these dead ends. And they're there not to so you can big lib boobs. These big lips. A dead end man. Actually is a blessing because it improves your efficiencies. It does.
So it's it's addition and subtraction. So some things when you hit these dead ends, Some of these things you have to remove. To improve your efficiencies. Some of the things. Require you to add more? Is that stall tactic? So you got to require, it requires you stall out. And you make these adjustments, you improve your skills. You keep confronting, you keep coming back to it every single day. And what's interesting is because you're curious and you look at it as a challenge.
And not this death sentence. It's a dead end it ain't meant for me. No, you just, get to these moments. And because you keep coming back to it, repetitively, you keep looking at your compass am I headed in the right duration. Yes. Okay. I got to make these adjustments and then you keep coming back to it and something jumps out there because you keep coming back and you see a little bit of an opening. You make this slight adjustment and what was once a dead end now becomes a gateway.
Of opportunities and connections where everybody else hits a dead end and they turn back. And they went and gather up with the herd. Of mediocrity. You kept coming back to it. You kept looking at the terrain. You kept looking at your compass. You kept developing your skillsets. You. There's an opening. What is that? What is that curious? Is that a light. And you go in that light and all of a sudden. Something breaks open for you. The compass isn't just a guide. It becomes a part of who you are.
Shaping your process process. Talk about a process every day. You work three to five step process. Every single day. You'll be a RFA. You'll be ready. You just keep making the adjustments. See, the process may be the same, what you do within those processes. The mechanics within it may be a little bit different. But you're still you stick to the process. It's in alignment. With your higher self. It's your true north. work in that process. You'll begin to remove these distractions.
What's distracting you. What keeps pulling you away? Get rid of that. It keep course correcting. It's a challenge. It's curious. I'm creative. Dude, you get one lap in this life. It'll never be easy for you. It's not supposed to be, it was easy. You'd be bored really. I mean, look, I'm just like you, I wanted easy on certain days and some days we get the easy button. Most days we don't, there's a challenge. It's tough. Okay. What's my compass say, heading in the right direction.
Cool. Because remember direction is more important than speed. See, there are going to be some people who look like today that have lapped you. They started after you. And now they've gone before you. I get it. It's deceiving. You don't know what's going on for them. You don't know how it's going to play out. And besides who cares, you're not even living their life. You don't know. So you could be putting this in. Going slow. Nothing's happening. And then.
You catapult to a whole different direction because you don't keep changing the map. You just keep referencing back to your compass and you refine that compass. And you head in the right direction. you really boil all this down. It's really about trusting yourself. It really is. So many times we want others to validate us. So many times. We won't. An Instagram workshop. Uh, Facebook live. Or YouTube short. Tick tock moment. To give us the answer. Those create sparks.
But you got to be the one to build your fire. You do. And the only way it's going to happen. As you got to trust yourself. And it doesn't happen all at once. But. It does happen once all the time. So every day. You work a process. That puts you in alignment that puts you in position. For your higher self. That coass s, will be more and more refined. And when that thing becomes refined. Because you learn to adjust for the terrain. Because you didn't have all the answers and you had the.
Seek out the answers. And you kept investing. You get that skin in the game for yourself. Something, nobody. Nobody. Can ever take from you. So even if. Unfortunate situations come about. And the floodwaters come in and wipe you out. They may have wiped out your possessions. But they can't wipe out your inner compass. You just go back to the compass. Whatever the setback. Whatever the horrible moment is. What's my compass say. Adjust that compass head in the right direction. And keep going.
All right, let's get outta here. Remember, keep it simple. Keep it moving. Never settle. State. Tough. Thanks for sharing this episode with someone who needs it and also subscribing come back. I'll have another episode for you. Peace.
