EP. 28 "Its Not You, its Mercury" with Maisy Bristol

duper special. I feel super duper special. I'm a terror reader and astrologer, so those are kind of my identifiers. This is a J's wheelhouse right here, not yours, not exactly. I grew up very so I've been Christian. So Tara reading and my mom's house would be like devil me is what she would the devil's work. Yeah, yeah, she would call it devil mean. I I don't call it that. I actually want my terror as long as you're gonna

give me good news. Now, if you flipped the card and you see some bullshit, just don't need to tear me. Just keep on moving on with life. Girl. Well, nothing in Taro is bad. Okay, how long? How long have you been doing this? Hey it's thirteen years ago now, um, and I started reading professionally like five and a half years ago. Uh, and I got I was always into astrology, but I got more professional with it, um more recently about three years ago. So but yeah, Tara was always

I'm Taro first, astrology second. But terror has always kind of been there, and it is like just the coolest thing I think. Obviously, I can talk about Taro all day every day. So how does tarat work? Exactly? Like A j knows all about it, but me, I know, it's like it looks like a deck of spades or something like that, but there's no books and no points. So can you explain to me in the audience, like

what what Tara really is? Yeah? Yeah, So Tarot cards are a deck of cards, obviously, and they actually mirror a playing card deck in the way that playing card decks have four suits. Ptero decks also have four suits. They have an ace through ten car numerical system, and they also have a court card system. So but instead of just having jack Queen king, they have two jacks.

So that's just four pursuits. Yeah, yeah, so like and they all Actually I could probably read cards with a regular playing card deck because those those suits match up with suits in the tarot deck. Um. The thing that makes it different is that if you take the playing card deck portion, which is usually fifty two, but with

the extra jack and there it's fifty six. Um, then you add twenty two more cards and um, so really a tarot deck is seventy eight cards, and it has the the playing card deck section, which is called the minor arcona, and the more um spiritual or like evolutionary section,

which is called the major arcana. And so the way I describe it, the major icona talks about more like big life moments like uh, like I've decided to move from the city to the country, you know, and that's like a major econom moment where it's really a life changing thing, as opposed to minor kond of cards really talk about like day to day emotions or feelings like I feel jealous today or or right now in my relationship, like we are disconnecting, like disconnected, and I feel disconnected.

That's just and in the moment kind of situations. So minor kind of card would come up there. So UM, so yeah, we have the seven eight cards. And the way that it works I always like to say is that, um, if we believe in energy and we believe in the idea, that what we think about we bring about, you know, um or h. If we're if we're sending out vibrations that were like not in a good mood, we're going

to continue to be not in a good mood. So when you're asking the Tarot deck, I always think that like what we bring, what we put out reflects back. So in the way that we're asking the cards the question, the cards are just gonna reflect back what we need to see at the moment. So if I'm sick of men,

then that means men are sick of me too. Well you get you're sick of men, You're like, I'm over the ship then, like you probably so I saw that you you you said you started uh reading tarot when you found a random deck of cards in your home, Like who had the tarot cards? Was it your? I don't know, just like I, Um, I just found them in like our games section, like where Monopoly was and and I was like, what's this? This looks kind of interesting and I pulled them out, and I don't know why.

I asked my one what they were. She kind of told me it's like a sportune teller thing. She gave me, like she's not into it though she she didn't really think. She thought it was more like a gimmick, which is why it's in the section. Yeah, and so she just, you know, in a gimmicky kind of way, gave me a reading, and I was like, this is super cool. And so I I read a lot on it just on my own, just because I thought it was interesting. And then once I realized that people take it seriously,

that's when I got very fascinating. For me, I just did like a full on Alice in Wonderland deep dive um. And that's how it came about, Like I just had passion for it. That's the only reason I'm here today. You know, I definitely spend money year reading what's your favorite day? Well, I I started with the I started with the right Weight, like everyone mostly does, and then I moved into the wild Unknown deck and I used that for a number of years and it's really beautiful.

It only has animals like no people, which I really like. M like screw people. I don't know. I just like I really connected with the animals, I guess, and um, and then I'm now really really into the right or Wait Smith deck, which is basically the right Way deck, but it just has more muted colors. The reason I didn't like the Right Weight and I didn't connect with it because because it was just like so bold and

like looked kind of tacky. Like the colors are kind of, um, they're bold, but then the cars themselves are kind of shiny and glossy, you know. And then I don't know, there's something about this rhetor Wait Smith deck that really speaks more to me. I want to clarify for everyone that orable cards and Tearoor cards are right, that Tarot decks have that seventy eight card structure with the court card system and as through ten and all and the four suits and Oracle cards are they kind of like

live by their own rules. I like to say it's like Tarot cards or like nordstrooms where every North drom is basically the same and they kind of have the same layout and the same clothing section and stuff. And um Orco cards are like futiques. They just kind of like are their own thing, right, Yeah, I usually meditate

in the Yeah. Well, I feel like orco cards are great for that, just like one like pull a card daily kind of pull or or I just want like a really quick, simple clarification because a lot of them have um, you know, one to three words on on each card, so you could it could be like fine clarity or something and you're like, okay, got it, um, whereas tarot cards are really more you know, uh, they have their specific interpretations and you use all of them

together to make a narrative, so it's a little bit more like complex in that way. I was just gonna say that y'all when y'all were discussing like the different types of cars, that y'all were literally speaking a different language to me, Like I don't know anything about like the different decks and do the glosses of the cars and the animals versus the people. Does that make a difference in what you're going to tell the person or does that No? No, no, no, it's just personal preference.

It's like I have a style, like a floating style, and I just don't like that sweater. Okay, fine, but someone else might like that sweater, So yeah, you just pick out yours based on what you like. Okay, because I was confused at that point, like, okay, the animal deck is gonna tell me that I'm a horse or something like that deck stupid part of amazing. As you can see, you're very colorful with my tongue a little bit. That's okay, I probably swear too much. I feel very

hung here. So tell us a little bit about tarot by Mazie website so our listeners can know where to find you and all that good stuff. Um, you teach people how to read tarot? Now, I do, yes. So my main my main offerings, I guess I would say, are terror readings and birth start readings. That's astrology. Um, so that's one section. Another thing that I offer is the online course, so that I have pre recorded. All you do is you go there, pick the one the

course that works for you. It's I have a one on one or two one, a three on one, or a whole on bundle. Um. So kind of it's like if you're if you are, you know, more a little bit more advanced than just a beginner, then you can just start with two A one or wherever you think you belong it's all prerecorded. You go at your own pace. And um, I'm also creating and about to launch a Tarot deck. So those are my three things that I have, um, and you can find all of those and all the

write it. I want to include it. So because the deck I have comes with a little small book you can get kind of, um, you know, an explanation for each car, right and most people, especially if you want beginners to pick it up, I wouldn't need that. So what is the natal chart? So we all know one sign in our chart, right, Um? So what what do you guys? Oh you already know yourself? YEA. I was

just explaining it for everyone else who doesn't. But basically, you're a cancer, right, And our calendar follows the sun, right, so we have three hundred six five days in the year, and the sun spent a certain amount of time in each corner of the sky. So for four weeks it's in cancer, and then for the next four weeks it's you know, moving on to Leo and so on and so forth, all the way around the wheel. So that's why you are a cancer, and then many other people

are cancers. But the reason that you're different is because at the time that you were born, all the other plans were in different parts of the sky and they all have signs too, and your birth chart talks about all those signs and how they work together and how they make you who you are. So are you a flat oh Earth or around Earth? Which one right? Oh around Earth? She thinks the Earth is it? Don't find

there's this ground in my humble opinion. Um, But I think one thing that people don't understand about astrology is that it is fact based. It's like it's scientific based, because we're talking about the planets and where they are in actuality in the sky and how they make angles with other planets, like that's all something that we don't just make up. That's that's the real thing. Like physically

a place, do you? I don't know, Like I believe that there's probably some sort of life somewhere out there. I wouldn't call them like aliens. It could be a plant, like, but I feel like there's got to be life elsewhere, whatever life means. Call the aliens. I feel like we're probably aliens to aliens, you know, like they had things on their hair and they opened the whole in the front and white ship was in there, you know, like I'm sure they would feel that way about us. That's

all off topic. I'm sorry, but she went on flatter Earth. So I was just wondering if you thought about aliens. And I always ask people that because I gotta know what type of people I'm dealing with, because I think that's stop me and I I'm a I'm not on your list good people? Am I on your hit list? Well? It's just that So when I asked people that, like I'm looking for like do you think outside the box? Like or does someone just able to tell you this

guy is fucking purple? Or you want to question it. You know what I'm saying, So I question everything. So that's why I asked, you know, because sometimes people be like, you know, I don't know, we ain't been there, or I don't know, I hadn't seen it. That if I read terror cards and I believe in astrology and I believe you ghost, that I probably think outside the box. Yeah, so what do they don't believe I'm a witch? But I keep telling them that I believe it. I believe it.

What do you say so I believe it? So people like I'll be acting like a bit. Sometimes they're like, you're acting like that because Mercury is in retrograde, And I'm like, what the fund do that mean? What does they even me mercury? And I don't think that that

makes sense. But but but basically, Mercury is the planet of communication and travel short distance travel, so like your daily commute or whatever, and um, whenever planet goes retrograde, it just means that the planet's energies or what they what it represents, slows down and kind of gets in this hazy fog. So um, because Mercury is communication, travel, and technology, Um, all three of those things can get

kind of messed up. So the way that you say something to someone, they might take it super personally and then you like break up or whatever or have a huge fight or something. Or regarding travel, like you could just get into a just if you're on the subway you take the wrong one, and it's like if there's an accident or something, you have to wait like five hours to get to work, or for technologies, you could this is like such a classic example that everyone uses.

But if you could reply all instead of trying to just reply to one person and then it's just like it's just a bunch of miss Yeah, it's like just being drunk, like you just make stupid mistakes or like things are just kind of all messed up and you can't really control it. Just it's happening to you. So when Mercury retregrade, a lot of stuff like that happens.

How often he is Mercury and how do Yeah, it happens three times a year for about like three and a half weeks um, and so nope, we have The next one is in September and that's the last one of the year. So the next I'm gonna start using it as a reason why I'm sucking up. If I'm sucking up, just use that as an excuse mercury retrograde or like you just forget to an assignment or something and you're like, my computer broke, mercury retroge an opportunity

for you to blame it on mercury. Yeah, that's what I'm gonna using for Hold on, Sam, let's stay some bills? So amazing? Can you give us a reading? Yes? I had a so I could tell me that I was going to meet a professional athlete in twelve or fourteen months and fall very madly in love and have two kids with this person. Can you tell me if that's true during taro or no? Yeah, my girl, we could do the efficacy of it, like like is this true?

Guess or no question? And uh like maybe how, um what, so are you within the twelve sixteen months right now or whatever? Like, oh, are you close to ending that or are you like in the middle? No, I'm like that was in February. He said that. Okay, I think that matters. I'm just curious. Um, so did we do

you first? Yes? Girl? Go ahead, I need all Okay, I'm just gonna say like I'm just gonna ask I always have to always have to clarify what question you're I just want to know about my relationships because I'm getting money. Guy's okay, work is okay, my family is okay, my health is okay. But my relationships, girl, they are in shamp both And notice that you add s on the end of relationships. Take one, Well, we have to

take one question at least. So do we want to talk about the psychic thing or do we want to talk about you? Because I'm really cool like four card spread and it talks about like, you know, maybe things that are from the past that are affecting love life or yeah, it's like a really nice one for people who are looking for love and they're like, what can I do to help, you know, work on that or like get that. So I'm gonna guess what I can do, and then you can tell me what the car say.

Maybe I'm in line with what I already. I need to shut the funk up. Sometimes I need to pick one person, focus on thew and again shut the funk up. to tell me some good ship about myself. I didn't prepare for the reading, so I'm like, not on the table, so I track. I'm like setting them up on my chair. Okay, okay, um, there's a lot going on here, and I like, I'm super excited to dive. UM. So I sometimes have like an energy card that's kind of like a I use it to sort of look at the spread in sort of an objective way or or through the lens of this card. But UM sometimes to read it first and

sometimes to read last. I'm gonna read last. But basically, so I have four cards here and then the energy cards. That's five cards. The first card is basically what your relationship with love is right now, like how do you

see it and what does it mean to you? And we got the eight of Pentacles reversed and so this card is really like, uh, it's like I work really hard to get what I want and I know I'll succeed, so you like work hard and everything, but when it's reversed like this, it just makes me feel like you feel like love is a lot of work for a

little payoff. Like it's kind of like like why would I work so hard for just kind of an annoyance, you know, someone had to think about all the time, and like someone have to take care of and it's just like it's just too much work, you know. I just it's it's worked to be in love, it's work to have a relationship, and I just don't feel like dealing with that. Um. But it's funny because the next card I have it's always about like it's like that's

what your relationship is. And then this is the media issue that blocks you from moving forward UM, and we got the Hangman reverse the Hangman upright. Uh. In general, it talks about like our skeletons are like our darker sides, the kind of stuff that we don't really want to face, but at some point we have to about ourselves, you know, to work on UM. And when it's reversed, it just means like you didn't choose to work on that that

issue came to you. So it makes me feel like when you're in a relationship, people point out the ship that you don't want to think about about yourself, that you haven't to work on. And so part of the reason of it's too much work means that you have to be um self like evolving or like self aware,

a little bit more self aware than you want to be. UM. So it's harder for you to kind of accept faults in yourself and and UM and you know evolved from them, which relationship and point out for you, I'm always right, I'm exactly Uh, Okay, So we have the past affecting the present, like what in your past affects your love

life now? And they got the four once, which is like a really nice card, but it makes me feel like and it makes me feel like you've had really like a really solid relationship before, and maybe that's like part of why you wanted You're so averse to them now because like that relationship, maybe you like maybe you work too much on yourself or like you gave too much of yourself or you lost yourself in that relationship, and so now you're like, I'm not losing myself ever,

and I'm never you know, like, don't tell me what to do. You're just like so much more closed off and independent um in your current love life because in this one, like it was happy and everything, but you look back on it and you're like, god, I like was not the kind of person I want to be or I or I just gave myself up too much. Girl. They may have me shopping in the thrift store girl. So yeah, that is right, because I'm never going back to that life. And the last card is the advice card.

So we have the cream of Swords reversed um, which is basically I'm always right. So when you said that, because I was gonna say that here, um swords like as an upright woman is like I see your perspective, I see your side, and we can think about this logically, and I have a strong personality, but I'm not like overbearing. But when she's reversed like this, it's really like my way the highway. Um, I you know, I you're a strong woman, but then maybe you're just like a little

bit um more one sided than than you should be. Um. And then the last card, which is interesting is this is the energy card, the overall kind of thing. Um we got the Lover's reversed, which makes me feel like, uh, like either you're and you know, I know you just said this past act like you're never going back to it again, but maybe there's like something there that you think about often, like the passion or the least something or whatever it was. Um. Because the lovers is a

very like passionate card. It's not a long lasting card. This is not a long lasting relationship card. It's more like I we like felt so happy and childish and fun and like also super intensely in love. It's almost toxic where it's like super high high, it's really low lows.

And so when it's reversed like this, it means like you might be thinking about someone in the past or that that relationship with the past and how like caught it was or whatever or um you pick people who you only pick people who are not long lasting prospects or both could be true. It is the last one. I always yeah, I mean like no, I can't have no real relationship with well yeah, and that's all part of this, Like I don't want to work on myself. I'm going to pick these people because I know it's

like hot for now. Well, that's really spot right there the guy I went right now that ain't going nowhere. Child's fun. There you have it now, So what should I do based off of that work? On how well do the work? What is the work? Well, first of all, don't take the douche bags that you are going to see yourself with forever, Like why date? Why like lower your standards at the very beginning, just to date and

have fun. Like if you want a long lasting relationship, you have to take people who are like good prospects for that. That's like number one, And then number two, it's being open to receiving uh you know, not feedback, like but just being open to other people's perspectives on how they feel or certain things that you do that make them feel certain ways, and taking some responsibility when necessary, and like, thank you, Mac, I gotta I don't even gotta come for her. So for me, temperance is all about like emotional balance and stability, and it makes me feel like you get really invested in your relationships once you're in it. So it's like, right now, you're taking time for you, You're pulling away. You're saying, I don't want to get too wrapped up into something unless it's the real deal. So I'm trying to keep a level head of trying to keep my my emotional stability and my mental stability in

the same place, like at all times. So you're like kind of doing you for now and like going, I am in control of how deep I get, how fast you know, like you are trying to tell yourself, I'm in control. I'm in control. Like, uh, that's kind of like your mantra when you go into dating or dating scenes or just whatever. Um, you're the one who is in control of you, and that's like the most important thing for you right now. Um. So regarding your career,

you've got a really nice one. We got the Night of Pentacles, and so this is one of those court cards that I was talking about. This is uh a jack, we would say, because we have got the night and then we have the king. So this to me says that there's a lot of projects ahead that you're working towards or that are growing, but they are growing and

they are going to be prosperous. We have panicles, which is the suit of money and material, and so whatever you're working on now or whatever product you're thinking about working on, UM, I would say, definitely go for it because it's going to be successful and it's going to work. Another question for another quick not question. Another interpretation here might be that someone is going to give you an opportunity. Um, we have that he looks like he's like offering the pentacle.

So this could be mean that some opportunity is coming your way from someone else. So it's not like you're creating it, but someone's going to hand it to you, which is really awesome either way. It's and then your last heart was super interesting and it kind of makes me it like pulls me back to your love life a little bit. Um, we got the this is for spiritual just like kind of your essence. I don't know. Um,

we got the nine of Pentacles reverse. And whenever I see this card, it's really a card of self worth. It's like I know I value, I know I'm awesome, Like I am a catch um when she's upright like this, but when she's reversed, it means that we have to work on a little bit self of self love or

a little bit of self confidence. Uh. And I think because you put your all into these relationships and you like not like lose yourself, but you just you devalue yourself, maybe some people end up treating you badly or making or guilt tripping you into doing something, or manipulate you into doing things, making you working with your emotions and that emotional um aspect that you give to partners, they use that and turn it against you, and then all of a sudden you have this self hatred and self

loathing going on. Um what you know? What? What? How did I mess that up? How did I suck that up? Um? So this is just about bringing value to your life, like you are valuable and um, you need to kind of show yourself that that's like where your spiritual journeys

on right now, Like more self love to enable self confidence. Yes, So between this reading and my reading a couple of weeks ago, it's just really affirmative for real, for real, And well, I love one thing I just like to say, like to women sometimes when we have in relationships like how to funk? Why is this happening to? You have to dig really deep and see what is it about yourself that's inviting this type of energy or this type of person and make those corrections that you can open

yourself up to to what you really deserve. You know, it could even be that same person, but maybe your energy would then make that person start changing somehow. Right. I like that because it's like what patterns? Like what are my patterns? How are how are the people I've dated? Where? What's the pattern here? And how does that? How do I feel about myself? You know when we look at those patterns, like how does that work? Why am I choosing that pattern over and over again? Yes? I have

my patterns, y'all. It's the worst the fixed rappers. I'm a project kind of goal. We we gotta we got a segment hub dumb bitch stories. Right, you got a dumb bitch story for us? Since you're a fixer rapper, I'm pretty sure you've been finest a couple of times.

But I don't know if it's like I wouldn't call it dumb bitch, but I just I've been with a lot of them, you know, like, I just just guys that have mental health columns, guys I've did an alcoholic Like, I just it's it's I just choose people who need help.

I'm attracted to the wounded. But you know why, I think it's because, like, if I'm seeking out guys who need self insurance and like confidence to see their value, Like, does not mean that I need to see value myself if you're using that as like I'm here and we talked about the reflection or the patterns and how does that reflect back onto you. That could be a thing. I think that's a lot of women though, like because

they're naturally nurturers. So you get these projects, you know, and I can make them better, or we just see something and people that they don't they don't see in themselves, so we try to and then you end up to bleating yourself basically an accepting behavior that is like wounding to you. It's so fucked up. A j what would you say, Like the type of men that I'm attracted to, You don't attract fixer ruppers in the aspect of money, maybe, but it may be emotional. Maybe they are something may

be wrong with them. Emotionally and you are trying to fix them up in that way. So I don't know. I don't think like fixer ruppers is just broke right. It could be emotional, you know, neither one of us just don't type of fixer uppers. A lot of these guys got mama issues. Man. They literally was raised by some bitches. So now they don't feel love until you're

cutting their ass out like a dog. And it's like, I want to be loving towards the person out where I don't want to have to get crazy on you, but it's like you don't think I love you, and tip cut you out. I don't talk to people like that though not. I don't cuss like, I don't say like bad words. I say things that hurt worse than bad words, like based off, like uh, this is awful

about to share this. I don't say things like like he'll be vulnerable enough to share with me that he's not sure if his first child is really his, and then we will be in an argument and I'll be like that ain't leaving your fucking kids. You know some shing like that, like that's you know, that's hurtful. It's me But it's not like you're a bit. It's not that it's that's not your child, so burn you know

that's that's worse. That's worse, Yes, because what you do when is addressing the tone and how somebody says something. But you can say some really nasty ship corregular. Yeah, but I don't know. I'm working on it. I think, yeah, it's different. I don't like diverge and like say something that's like super hurtful but totally off the charts, like not even relevant. But I I can say her what

I want to. I never I never do it unless I feel like her, like um, and then I and then I'll just like pull something from the very back and be like, well remember the time. It's just like just like that. It has to be relatable, you know, it has to relate to I won't just I like, not your child. Comment will have to be some something to do with the kids. You know. I wouldn't just throw it out there just like hey, guess what I remember when you share it with me and now that's

not your baby. You know I wouldn't do that. You're a maniac girl, And no, listen, I don't have to win the argument I'm not going to say the worst thing to win the argument, because I feel like if you love somebody like certain ship, like your heart won't let you say your due to them. So when somebody can just say the craziest ship to me and I gotta disrespect you in that way, we probably should not be together because I could be really disrespectful. I would say,

I'm not I'm definitely not petty. I have zero pettiness to me. Cancer, it's very Tell me give me an example of me being petty. Um, you said that you hope my hair style was ugly. When I was on my way to my hair that was petty, as she I was on my winter airpoint. But she said, I hope your hair gets I hope she sucks your hair up. Dude, that's petty. Because he was going back and forth. I'd been arguing with this girl like she's my guy. Man, I'm sticking her as Yeah, But like two hours later,

I was like, so are we gonna record tomorrow night? Yeah, that's how I went. Me wish my hair was fucked up. It guess what it was. I left there. It was bad. It was so bad. I was like, I hate this bitch. She manifested that my closure was all tweezed. Why this hell? I was like, basically, you don't know what I'm talking about with the closure being tweets wise, it's white as hell. No, it's some black dot about Listen. I appreciated my reading. I don't know about you. Say, we both have some

inner work to do. I know I have to do some inner work, but I don't know everybody. Everybody says do the work. Somebody giving me the syllables so I can know what I need to do first. You know, when I tell you to as you say, I'm petty. So what you no want to tell me right now? Tell me in the world? What? What? What is my syllabus? Like? What's the first thing? Accountability?
