Episode description

This episode is inspired by Breast Cancer Awareness Month (October 2019). In it, I discuss breast cancer statistics, break down some myths regarding this cancer and some up to date recommendations from the American Cancer Society.  I also talk about my own experience with my mother who had breast cancer.

You will learn:

*Why self-breast exams are no longer recommended

*African American women are at higher risk of dying from breast cancer.

*Why wire bras do not cause breast cancer

*At 40 years of age, you should talk with your provider about getting yearly mammograms.
