Good morning, good afternoon, good evening. You are tuned into the Vitamin D with Dawn Day podcast and I am your host, Dawn Day, here to get you excited about your life so that you can live life on purpose and for a purpose. And this is your first time tuning in and welcome Vitamin D. It's upon of my name. My name is Dawn and you get Vitamin D from the sun. So I'm here to shed light into your life.

And I do this with inspirational insights and conversations with celebrities and everyday people like you and me, because if you want to be better and you want to do better, then you're going to have to be able to see better. So join me on this journey of living our best lives and understanding and realizing how you are your greatest ass at call it all joy. That's what I'm screaming out,

calling it all joy. I'm calling the joy because guess what I am the host of the front page on Radio Free one or two point three k J L H. Wow. I took some time to get there for joy, and I want to remind you that as I'm in this journey, I can't say that it has been the easiest, but it's me identifying what it is that I want and also staying in gratitude. You know, they say, the more grateful you are, the more things you have to be

grateful for. But one thing I've realized, even on my path, and as I've talked to different friends, family members, people that I know, that oftentimes, on this journey called life, we have a tendency to look at other people and what they're doing, checking their tempo, checking their speed, and while all in all we lose our rhythm. Why is that? Why do we lose focus on our most important asset,

which is ourselves? Now? Because we are spiritual beings having a human experience, I'll say this is quite normal, but I'm reminded to tell you that you have to check yourself before you wreck yourself. I'm looking back and I'm thinking about the episode. It was actually posted on October three and titled stop Comparing Yourself, and in it I talked about my friend's mother who said, hey, Dawn, why aren't you further than when you are right now? Dahn,

look at your friend. They've gotten way further than you, Dawn. The people that you're with aren't gonna be with you forever. Now. I could have gotten distracted and focused on that, but you have to realize that timing is everything. Sometimes you go through things so that you can get through the other side, so that there's a better understanding of where you're going. But if you're so concentrating on looking at the next person, you'll miss the goal right in front

of you. And I remember telling her, I said, oh, I'm gonna write space. Timing is everything because there are some things that I had to get ready for. And that's why I say such a time as this and I can count it all joy. So I want you to count it all joy, whatever it is that you're experiencing, whatever it is that you're working towards, because you best believe every lesson is a blessing. You just gotta hold

on and just remind yourself. The more grateful you are, I guarantee you, the more things you have to be grateful for. Gratitude is everything. Dahn day is getting paid to be on the radio. Get your rightem right with me. I get excited about. So I'm sitting here wonder what I'm gonna talk about, and I was taking a look at this box. Jeremiah rough in the studio. It's called an icebreaker starter pack and as an over or has a hundred and fifty prompts in here in various categories

such as life, things that are random, deep experiences. If you could, and of course would you'd rather, I'm not so let me just delving in here and see what I see. And I pulled out from the Life question a card it says what book has made the biggest

impact on your life? Immediately? The book that came to mind it was a Game of Life and How to Play It by Florence Scobell shin for many years, I said, Skowell, but um shout out to Patty Jackson, Auntie, Patty Jackson up in Philly, she said at Skobel, So the Game of Life and how to Play It. I came about this book when I was a senior at Howard University and we had to do a practical course. And the practical was basically having an internship that was an alignment

of whatever your major was at school. I majored in TV production. I might have in business, but I was all in the theater classes and all up in radio. But as you know, TV is an extension of radio. I say all that to say because I was currently having my internship at Excellent Satellite Radio now in order to graduate, uh, so that the internship counted towards my

practical course. They said, well, hey, you doing, why don't you go ahead and film and record the interviews and things that go on at the station and we can include that as part of the TV practical So that gave me the credit for the class. So I will go to my internship, come at to class. And then one day my teacher was like, oh, shout out to Professor Saunders, Vicky Saunders. She said, we got to read this book and it has nothing to do with television.

Immediately I'm tight because I'm like, why are we wasting out time reading this? Little did I know that that was going to be one of the best books I've ever read to date. Probably it may be one of the best books I've read in my life, but my life and over, so I'm not gonna buckle that up yet.

But the book is phenomenal. And I'm sitting here and I had to just do a little quick Google search because I was like, I remember there were so many revisions with a book, and I think it initially was published and what I think, according to uh Wikipedia says and in the book it was my first introduction. So I guess the world of metaphysics, the whole idea of speaking things into existence, the law of attraction, um understanding how karma comes to play, not forcing things in our life,

and the power of manifestation. It's so interesting how we can be so quick to block our blessings. Sometimes God be like, yo, let me rain down blessings on you, and the first thing we're grabbing as an umbrella. In some retrospects, one can say, when we asked God to grow, sometimes it rains, and this time it was raining for so much information, and yet I was trying to pull out my umbrella. It was this book that got me on the rhythm of reading books and really understanding books.

So much so I actually gifted this book to a friend, Chris Massey, and what this was probably don't be calculating my age at least what fifteen sixteen years And he still thanks me to this day for this book. And I guess two things. One, check out the book. I promise you're gonna thank me. I want to give you a heads up. She does refer to a few things

in regards to religion, as as Christianity. But if you're anything like me, and if you can deal with me, I say you eat the meeting, you spit out the bones, You take what you need to get, and you put the rest out, such as the way with life. But I promise you this is going to open up your mind to a world of possibility that you probably had no idea ever existed. And you realize this world is

right inside of you. It's like you have the magic Wand in factually also has another book entitles Your Word is Your Wand I also want to use this as a moment of not only saying get the book, but then also what are you blocking in your life? What is there a message that somebody's trying to tell you that you're trying to push away. If you just take a minute to listen, to look over and to review, I promise you, I bet you that you will receive something.

Because I can't imagine if I was so adamant and so frustrated about oh not reading this book because it has nothing to do with my TV practical, I probably wouldn't be the dawn sitting in front of you that you here coming out of your speaker right now. It was almost like I accepted in my power. When I read that book, it was almost as though the lights

were cut on. You know, sometimes I feel when we're in moments of despair, when we're really not feeling like we're living our best lives, it's almost like living your being in a room with the lights off. There's book cut on the lights in my room, and rather than just being in a dark room trying to get out, being in the dark room, not knowing how much space I have, being in the dark room and not realizing the tools that I have in front of me. Now

I can see And what do I always say? If you want to be better and you want to do better, you have to be able to see better. And this book allowed me to see me. It allowed me to just to say, Okay, Dawn, what is it that you really want and what is it that you're calling forward? And understanding how important it is to choose to speak life, to choose your best life, to choose your mood, to choose your day, to understand that you have a cho ways.

I think sometimes many of us are living a life of inactivity while we're allowing life to happen to us versus we're happening to life. We gotta change that. You know that we are artists, were created by creator. Therefore we were meant to create eight guys that dating Michael, everybody get your dose about him, indeed with dawn day and get excited about your life. If art is life and life is art, what are you painting? What is your song? What colors are you using? Were palette? Where

is the light? But over all of that, what is the vision? What's the vision you have for your life? If life is a game, how would you choosing to play it? See, sometimes we're dealthy's hands, and sometimes we have a tendency look at someone else and thinking they have a better hand versus and realizing how important it

is to play the hand that we're doubt. See, we were equipped with various tools or whether that is to have the game face on, whether that is to know to play the card at a certain moment, whether that is is too If I were playing space, I would say to cut that book. You listen to your advantage, stop feeling like you've got things missing, that you ain't got it all white and understand it is a game, and a game is meant to have fun. A game

is where you use your strategy. A game is when you say, I want to make my next move my best move. What is your next move? How are you choosing to walk into your life? Sometimes life can be overwhelming, But as my old Barbara Lewis t Palus always say, the journey is the experience, and the experience is the journey. We get so caught up in this journey of what we think life is supposed to be like, versus just

sitting back and having the experience. If I got so caught up in the journey of me thinking that, oh, in this class, I shouldn't have this book, we don't have to read it, I wouldn't be right here. But instead I had to sit back and I had no choice but to experience. So I want to charge you to sit back and experience your life. To move forward and experience your life. To listen intently and sperience your life, to speak life and experience your life, realizing that you

can create the life that you choose to experience. What is the vision you have for your life? What are you accepted in your life? What's the last book you read. You know, when this prompt came up, it made me think, I gotta get back to reading my books. I will read books all the time. It made me sayd my tolls keep me well versed. It also helps with my speech. So I want to employ you to read your books because it was this book that led me to Russell Simmons book Do You. And out of that book I

learned that how your ear is like an embryo. We know this because we understand how important affirmations are. You know me, I have life pattern in my mouth, so you know how important it is to speak life. We know how important is to speak life of our children because what you put in your ears allows things to grow. Again, I was Russell Simmons Do You. Another book that I read wasn't titled A Limited Power. It was by Tony Robbins and I don't know what's last thing Johnson James.

I'm I wanna, I feel so off I can't recall right now, but it was the the Black Edition, and in it they talked about the tennis player, the legendary Arthur Ash and it talked about the consistency and how he would constantly be there and just work his moments and getting his rhythm of life, and it just reminded me we can't stop. You have to keep moving in the rhythm of life. And once we start moving, we understand how important is that we need to duck, if

we need to dige, if we need to ben. We notice how flexible we are, and more importantly, we notice how solid our core is. Because when you get to the core, you get to the heart of the matter. And in that book, well I got to the heart of that. It was something talking about love languages. That's something that stuck with me too, because it talked about relationships not only just intimate but also platonic and understanding

people's love languages. And it gave me a sense of how important it is is to make room for somebody, and making room looks like even though the way I may express my love may not be the way that you express your love, but being able to see that and seeing what we meet in the middle, I can say all day and saying my affirmation is how much I love you. But if you're a person that likes touch, you may be saying, hey, you're not giving me that

warming brass. But if we make room and we take no from Big Sean and understand and and co communication is not always about how we talk, but how we listen. We are making room to see people where they are and then meet them where they are. They said after times, that's why relationships fall apart, not because the individual doesn't care, but perhaps we aren't able to receive and to give

the person's appropriate love language. And not because we don't want to, but perhaps we haven't made room to take time to see them almost the same as I did almost take time to see this book The Game of Life and How to Play It. So what book has made the biggest impact on your life? Let me know, Shoot me an email, go on social media and leave a comment, Go on Twitter, Vitamin D doing Day let me know. I'd like to know.
