Show Yourself Some Self-Care, Some Self-Love

Today’s dose of "Vitamin D" is dedicated to self-care - to you loving on you. How do you feel? Overall, how do you feel about your life? Do you like who you are and who you are becoming? How’s your job? Your relationships? Your eating habits? Are you working out? How are you? Oftentimes, I feel as though we get so caught up in the “doing” of life that we forget to do a “check-in” and it shows when we are unhappy, feeling unfulfilled, unmotivated, just downright yucky and depressed…feeling like we are doing everything for everybody else and not ourselves and guess what? It ain’t nobody’s fault but our own. You’ve heard the saying time and time again, “check yourself before you wreck yourself,” aka show yourself some love. aka show yourself some self-care, some self-love.

In the hit song, “Self Care” by Florida native Savannah Cristina, the 24-year-old songstress belts, "I gotta put myself in the front. Know what I want.” Let me ask you something, "do you know what you want?" Have you taken time to figure out what you want and who you are? If not, what are you waiting on? How do you think you are going to get out of this vicious cycle of complacency, unfulfillment... depression... anything that doesn't serve in the betterment of you. Look... we're here to live our best lives. On purpose and for a purpose. You, me, us can't afford to go through life not knowing who we are and what we want…that ain’t self-care and that sure isn’t self-love. How is somebody else going to love you when you don’t even know how to love yourself? How is somebody else supposed to know how to treat you and you don’t even know how to treat yourself? Hello somebody. 

I want you to take note from Savannah Cristina. The next time you look in the mirror and say, “I gotta be fine by myself, I'm taking my time, I'm doing this right.” Yup, because you deserve it. That’s self-care. That’s self-love!
