Episode description

Today's dose of "Vitamin D" is dedicated to communication. How we communicate with others, but more importantly, how we communicate with ourselves. Now, oftentimes when we think of communication, we think about what's being said, but it's time to look on the reverse about what's being perceived, what's being heard. Now, what made me think of that is this hit track entitled "Hate Our Love" by Queen Naija featuring Big Sean.

And in it they're talking about the dynamics of their relationship and what is a relationship? A connection between two people and usually how do we connect? We connect through communication. And what struck my ear is something that Big Sean said. He said, "working on communication. I've learned that it's not just how you talk, though. It's how you listen." How are you listening to other people?

But more importantly, how are you listening to yourself? We're so quick to say things, but how often are we so quick and so at ease to hear what's being said? What's being said with our body. What's being said with our mind, our conditions, our environment, our loved ones. Are we making room for that to be received? That's the valuable part with communication.

So take now from Big Sean and remember, communication is "not just how you talk, though. It's how you listen." That's it for your dose of "Vitamin D." Be sure to follow us on all social media @VitaminDDawnDai and until next time, always remember, "you are your greatest asset."
